There have been three recipes so far where I just wasn't excited about making them, for whatever reason.

Tonight I made last week's Roasted Chicken with Jalapeño-Herb Salsa, Mixed Citrus & Cracked Wheat Berries.

This one one of the "meh" recipes for me going in, just didn't seem terribly exciting or beyond our normal fare here, but like the others that I was apathetic about, it turns out to be one of my favorites. My imagination must be failing me.

I'd eat the salsa straight; and probably will at some point in the future. Shallots, white wine vinegar, toasted pistachios, grapefruit juice, jalapeños, chives, parsley, olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Bananas.

I've got one more trial to give. I think @TDunk was next in line, then @ScottsdaleBucki? TDunk, if you'd like it, just send the email address you'd like to use to LongwoodBuck and she'll get you hooked up.

Scottsdale is on deck. Anyone else want to queue up? I don't know how many more (if any) I'll get, but those who stay on after the trial week will get trials of their own to give out, and maybe they'll offer some here as well.

Will do. Maybe the new soon to be wifey can learn how to cook with some baby steps.

One tip I have for all participating. They have you zesting citrus often. While they instruct a classic knife technique, those less familiar are apt to include more white pith than one generally wants. If you don't have a microplane zester, it would be a good (and entirely cheap) addition to your arsenal.

Looks like this is the next round. Probably the one people signing up now will get.

5-Spice Pork Buns with Red Cabbage, Carrot & Thai Basil Salad
Chicken and Mixed Mushroom Forager with Toasted Parmesan-Garlic Bread
Cod over Linguini with Fresh Peas, Meyer Lemon & Spring Herbs

There are a couple really intriguing items on the vegetarian menu this week. Sort of wish they already allowed us to mix and match, but then I'm not sure what from above I'd drop.

One thing that might help them out is if they include subtle differences for potential meals. My girl hates mushrooms, but everything else from that recipe sounds awesome. What if someone has allergies? Just small variables that could open up the market.

Agreed. Sadly (for me, because I love them) I've lost the ability to eat certain types of beans. Black, kidney, navy, and those of that ilk. Pain that eclipses at times what I went through passing a kidney stone, but upper esophageal -- most certainly related to my other issues. Anyway, inevitably there will be a recipe that includes them (indeed there recently was a chili recipe that did), I just cooked around it. They have promised adaptive offerings though, and I suspect allowing for certain needs and some selection is a commonly requested feature. Plated offers a selection, but they're still considerably more expensive. If BA can pull off something similar while maintaining current rates (perhaps a tall order), they'd really take a bite out of the competition.

Never had a kidney stone but as a nursing student I have heard the stories. Wouldn't wish that on anyone besides Sandusky. But I have to believe that BA has different chefs on hand to create different meal plans. There are always variables to establish different and still delicious options. Maybe it is too soon to be diverse with their menu options. But if they already have vendors that they go through, they should have the ingredient options as well. Hell, I'm a meat and potatoes kinda guy but some of the veg options sound good. I would be scared about which one got sent to me though.

If you don't plan on continuing with your trial, be sure to cancel your subscription. I haven't decided if I'm going to continue yet, but I forgot to cancel my subscription and was charged yesterday for this upcoming week's delivery. Thankfully I contacted them to cancel my subscription for now, they're refunding the cost ($60) and still sending me this week's food for free lol. Nothing wrong with great customer service.
