Strange happenings to be sure. Here's a maybe....tOSU RBs will HAVE to carry the load until Fields gets his feet wet and learns to manage the offense. To that end, Dobbins et al, will of necessity carry the load to relieve the pressure on Fields. Ergo, a lot of yards starting off for the RBs. It also seems to me that the OL is comprised of 'run-first' players (Myers, Davis), not sure about the new 5* OL guy. This might change the mind of a certain RB who was dazzled by the USC song girls, the beach, etc . Who knows what 18 year olds go thru during this process. Now if he shows up at USC with a new Tesla S sedan, then......the net net of it all is that tOSU will be fine. The above factoids show that the Buckeyes have enough horses in the stable to go four and five deep at RB. Not sure whether I'm trying to convince y'all, or me. Anyway and always, Go Bucks!

Eh. I saw Walter Peyton's son play for Miami and Jordan's son play basketball for Illinois.

It doesn't always work out.
Both those guys were also 3* recruits, if I’m not mistaken.

But I hear you. And there are several other recent examples of this. I’m still cautiously optimistic with EJ because it doesn’t look like pops is forcing him to follow in his footsteps. He’s doing it because he’s genuinely talented, and loves the game.

Didn’t Montana’s kid just straight up quit football? Just because you’re the son of a football legend, doesn’t always mean the kids want to follow the same path. I think that’s different with EJ.

Like I've been saying ... EJ Smith is more comparable to Zeke than Robinson is.
Both run through the teeth of defenses and break tackles for big runs. Both excelled in the passing game. (EJ actually plays out wide too, so he has receiver techniques that most backs never develop)

Robinson is a scat back with size. He uses his shiftiness to evade tackles and speed to run through open running lanes. Most of his film highlights are simple run plays with big holes, where he just out runs the entire defense.
Whether Robinson would end at Ohio State or not, he was never a guaranteed first year starter in my mind. He's going to have to prove he can get those tough yards against faster defenses if he's going to be an every down back.

He could end up being the next Reggie Bush. He could also end up being the next Maurice Wells. Anywhere in between and you're going to have a pretty serviceable back regardless.

The comparisons to Zeke however, are incorrect IMHO. Two completely different types of backs.
