From BN:
And unlike other startup networks such as NFL Network and ESPNU, Big Ten Network has enjoyed immediate success reaching deals with such broadcasting giants as DirectTV and Time Warner
Contradicts many other reports that Big Ten Network was still in negoiations with time warner and not had an actual deal

Hmmmm, I sure hope the deal with Time-Warner is signed, sealed and delivered, but I have this nagging feeling that T-Ws local providers have to sign on. I seem to recall something like this coming up around an event and T-W national was on board but T-W Cincinnati was not. Anybody else recall that...maybe the OSU - Indiana game?

The chances are better that BTN running live events in HD means DirecTV runs them in HD than with any other cable / satellite provider.

Oh, I'm not writing it off as SD for sure, but I'm well aware of DirecTVs downrezzed signals, bandwidth sharing, and focus on locals for HD. I could certainly see DirecTV choosing to show in SD because it's new and viewership is primarily regional. Frankly, I'm just proud of BTN for doing this correctly right out of the shoot...that's awesome even if the cable/satellite operators "fool" it up for a while.

I'm also skeptical about it. I don't know about OSU - Indiana, or Cincinnati. My local provider (TW) seemed very quick to pick up STO (for Indians games), but I get the feeling that they won't give a rat's ass about Big Ten Network. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Man, that is an interesting read. Suffice it to say that people outside of the Ohio area are very likely to miss games now since the "regionalizing" of games might cause the game to be shifted to a secondary channel that many cable operators may not choose to offer. Beyond that, this chat has a lot of automated answers which constitute non-answers. This channel will make the ESPNU complaints seem mild.

Oh, and I LOVED this question:
Will you show video's of boys climbing ropes. I used to really like that about gym class and would love to relive the moments. I mean there's nothing like a good old time rope climb to lighten the spirits. I do say I'd really enjoy a show about boys climbing rope

Hilarious!
