Big Ten Conference Divisions

Phew, I thought the trophies being announced were also going to pertain to rivalries too, meaning the Big Ten could hand out a trophy for the Ohio State-Michigan game.

Good thing it didn't pertain to rivalries.

Nice to see the conference embrace Jack Tatum with the Tatum-Woodson Defensive Back of the Year Trophy.

But Tatum has to have his name beside that scumbag.

Griese-Brees (Greasy Breeze) sounds like the name of a shitty band.

If Delaney is making the big bucks how much did he give the first 8 y/o he came across on the street to come up with that awful logo?
Seriously.

Take out the 11 for now, and then in a few years when you expand to 16, turn the G into a 16.

Obviously this is an ugly rough draft, but the concept is quite simple to pull off.

A curved edge font would likely make a "6" out of the G without any weird edges like the above.

Though unlike divisional splits, I will say the SEC's logo always left a lot to be desired as well.

I think the new logo would be better with a different font. The one they chose invokes the font the Dallas Cowboys use in their logo. It looks a little too "western" and "old" for what they're going for.

I think they're trying to do what the Pac-10 is doing though - this new logo should allow each school to incorporate their own colors more prominently when it is added to uniforms, playing surfaces, etc.

Why couldn't they just use their solid, sleek BTN logo and maintain the brand?

I curved the G and made the middle horizontal longer. This logo works for 12, and lets you maintain the same branding when the inevitable 16 team conference expansion happens.

This looks like one of those hand-made ornaments or memorabilia items that sell on ebay.

^ I would have liked something like that with a 2 somehow etched out of the T and E.
It can be done (it was done in the expansion thread) but it starts getting a little gimmicky with all of the notches out of the T.

Named for a guy that has won exactly three conference championships and has a conference record of 90-54 (compared to Woody's 13 titles and 153-37-7 record or Bo's 13 titles and 143-24-3).

[censored]. THAT.

The only bright side would be if they are just buttering up those morons for future disregard to their interests in the conference.
i think that it appeals to the more contemporary fans. more people today no the paterno more than hayes. clearly, woody meant more to the big ten than paterno did but paterno is more recognizable in the grand scheme of things. paterno hasn't even won a nc since joining the big ten. it doesn't make much sense from an osu fans point of view.

The whole "gotta have two names for political correctness" meme on these awards is just garbage.

Put one player/coach on each award. Don't let a single school (or a small number of schools) dominate the award names. Make sure each player meets whatever moral bar is appropriate.

It isn't that hard people. Why do you insist on over thinking it and screwing it up?

JoePa has no business being on any award (nor does any player from the last decade or so for that matter).

HB - Griffin
FB - Ameche
QB - Long

etc etc
etc etc

The names and logo are 'meh', but theme behind it and the new awards are all going to be great. First-class all the way. They've just created more inventory for BTN as well. Can you say "awards show"?

Other conferences will be copying these awards moves in no time, and within a few years we'll be getting promos for the SEC Football Awards shoved down our throats for half the season on ESPN.
Yeah, I understand. I think for me, the big win is the post-graduate awards. Meaning that Delaney and the Big Ten are going to tie itself to those that become leaders even after they leave the school. So a guy like Brees obviously, but he's a well known story. I wonder what kind of low-key stories we will hear about from the awards in future seasons from some former player who now runs a non-profit on some cancer institute, or helping low-income parents afford college for their kids or whatever.

That kind of award can really make some former players strive even further to do something long-lasting and I dig it.

Win.
