Big Ten Basketball Thread

Sparty better show up today or they'll get run out of the barn in Madison. If getting bounced by 20 at Iowa doesn't fire them up for their next game they might as well pack it in and get ready for football.

Gus Johnson and Clark Kellogg. This should be interesting.

Down 29 in the second half. I expect Sparty to be Sparty in football, but not hoops.

Purdue 67
Indiana 53

The game was at Purdue and the margin hung around 6-8 points most of the night.
IU has found some bite, despite losing their 3 top scorers for the periods of the season- Maurice Creek (injured for 2nd year in a row, led team last year before injury), Christian Watford (leading this year), and Verdell Jones (great mid-range game, 13 ppg for career).

For as unimpressed as I've been with Crean that last 2.5 years, what he's done the in 2011 has been pretty remarkable. Wouldn't be shocked to see Purdue drop one on the return trip to Bloomington.

I rated MSU 11th in my Big Ten power poll this week. That's what losing by 46 to Iowa and Wisconsin will do for you. All the other teams in the Big Ten at least showed some fight in at least one of their past couple games.

They're in full-on 2010 Texas football mode now...never, ever thought I'd see an Izzo team look like this.

Or hell, 2009-10 Texas basketball mode.

If this keeps up, I hope they don't put Sparty in the tournament like they did with Texas last year. That was a joke, giving an at-large bid to a team based on their reputation and early ranking, ignoring their sub-.500 record in the second half of the season.

Hard to argue against that one. They've earned it.
