I'm close to being done with my biggest passion since I was a kid. I'll stick around here because I love this community, but I'm defeated. Greed killed a beautiful game
Agreed. I lived in Portland for 7 years and enjoyed immensely the Pac10. It really is sad that there won’t be one…..the rivalries don’t mean as much anymore. Really , you can point back to the ESPN hyping the battle of conferences. That took away from the pagentry and history of the greatest game.

While I'll get to see the Bucks on a consistent schedule now, The PAC coming to an end is sad. The PAC10 always had a mystique and uniqueness to it, and I had a hatred/respect for USC as we used to face them most years in the Rose Bowl.
I hope most of the great college traditions survive all this change. It would be a shame to see it all die like the PAC.

Yeah, I kind of miss the PAC-12 Champion and B1G Champion playing in the Rose Bowl (i.e The Granddaddy of Them All). For the B1G teams the Rose Bowl use to be the ultimate prize. Now with the CFPs the Rose Bowl is just another NY6 game.

Agreed….and when I lived out there I traveled Oregon & Washington and was single at the time. I attended games at every Pac10 stadium except Stanford, ASU, and Arizona. It was really cool to see the other side of the BigTen vs PacTen lore from places like Corvallis, Eugene, Seattle, Pullman, etc. As a kid growing up in Ohio we just thought of the Pac10 as a bunch of surfer dudes and Compton dawgs vs our virtuous corn fed and rust belt boys. But what a great view from behind the lines and great stories from famous players of their past. There is nothing cooler than a game at Husky Stadium on a sunny, warm September day. Or watching USC or UCLA come up to Corvallis or Pullman and play in a 35,000 seat stadium close up.

What a great game college football is and what a shame that a lot of what built it is getting discarded. The Pac10 is one of the key foundations of the sport and it is gone.

I may be in the minority, but I am looking forward to the addition. Better competition and great destinations for away game visits.
I don't think you're in the minority, and I'm happy with the addition of the four teams, although I think adding OR and WA St would've been fun. Both schools just invested heavily in their facilities and both have capacities around 60,000 with great fan bases.

The competition between the Pac12 and the B1G are in the past and good nostalgia. Just hoping the move to an NFL style season doesn't erase the college experience

NIL and the transfer portal (i.e. free agency) has already erased what use to be "the traditional college experience".

I think the expanded playoff has an even bigger effect on changing what college football has been. The regular season will be greatly diminished, and the meaningfulness of every week will suffer greatly.
