CBS Sports - "Pac 12 Poaches Mountian West Schools To Join Oregon State, Washington State As Conference Rebuilds"

Pac 12 has received applications from Boise State, San Diego State, Colorado State, and Fresno State and they have all been accepted by the Pac 12

Should the P12 change their name to MAC West? Just because you have the requisite numbers of teams, does it mean you are automatically included in the NCAA playoff? I would think not. Most of them are MAC level (some a tad more, some a tad less), and not even certain that the stadiums (stadia?) are requisite size. When I point out that Fresno St's stadium is a big smaller than Massilon's HS stadium, get strange looks. Guess we'll see how the television stations treat this 'new' league. Not certain the team locations will have the same draw as those that left. Certain (at least am hoping) that this 'new league' will NOT have the automatic berth in the playoffs - which was what was wanted in the first place. Go Bucks!

Better said than I, DBB. Would opine that the B10 would be looking to shed some teams, rather than expanding on what currently have. Especially if some of the ACC teams were to join. Do enjoy the elitism of having the academic tag put to all (but Nebraska) teams, as well as having teams 'other than football' being well represented. Can't see the Presidents diluting the TV revenue by adding other teams, just to expand (or keep ahead of SEC). Somewhere, the law of diminishing returns has gotta kick in. TV $ is the golden goose, which allows the revitalization of athletic venues, etc. and don't want to kill that. Heck, probably more than several schools utilize these bucks to balance their university budgets (Maryland, UCLA, Rutgers (?) ) out of necessity. Just an idle musing on a Monday morning.

Well, you see...UNLV doesn't have the academic chops these other schools have...or something.

Seriously though.

Las Vegas or San Antonio/Tampa Bay/Memphis/New Orleans?
None of the entire new PAC (excepting now Tulane) have any academic chops. Boise literally has a fucking truck driver school, though I'm not sure whether it offers minors in serial killing and prostitute killing.
