Big Ten and other Conference Expansion

If ND doesn't join a conference now, they will be irrelevant in 2 years.

I can remember when the real goal was to get to the “Granddaddy” and play USC or UCLA, and that was what mattered to most people…now it’s a conference game. I just can’t…

I love Ohio State. I will always love and root for Ohio State. But I hate these super conferences. Hate them.

Just my humble opinion: For scheduling purposes 20 teams work better than 18. You could have 4 pods of 5 teams each. Put rival teams in the same pod. You play each team in your pod every year and each of the teams in the other 3 pods every 3 years, etc. That's 9 conference games and 3 nonconference games per team.

Will there still be no conference games? It seems like a super conference could play like 10 conference games in 4 pods, play a 2-round conference championship, and then hit the playoff/bowls if they still exist

B1G would have to lower their academic standards considerably to let in F$U.

While it's a strong brand and would expand the B1G footprint, I have a hard time imagining them being in the same conference as NorthWestern, Wisconsin, and Purdue.
