Only thing that makes sense out west would be to add OU and OSU lite which would be a good move IMO. Would also give Nebraska some company out there too which helps them out.

Otherwise ND would wrap up Chicago and BC would go a good way in locking up the Northeast which is the most population dense area of our country per capita.

UVA and UNC are fantastic schools but I'm not sure what they add from a viewership standpoint? IMO if the SEC expands then we absolutely have to as well.

I've said it before, B1G will never admit OU (or Lite). The academic aspect still matters here. Hell, while there are multiple reasons that KU isn't getting anything more than a courtesy call, they won't get in for academics either. They're AAU, but they're the next Nebraska ready to get booted out. The juggalos have better AAU metrics than KU.

The Big Ten has never been reactive to expansion. Always methodical and proactive in a shock the world kind of way. No way we take shit schools like ISU, KU or WVU in some panicked response.

Now, if you tell me we're working behind the scenes to shock the world with USC, UCLA, Washington and Oregon, I'd be immensely less surprised than in hearing that any phone call that ISU or KU gets is anything but a courtesy.

Fuck it. Go big or go home.

Merge with the PAC 12 en mass. "We'll see your OU/UT and raise you USC/Oregon/UW and a Rose Bowl..."

I'd be happy with the four Cali schools plus UW and the Ducks. That puts us at an even 20. Coast to Coast.

we’re National, SEC is still regional.

B1G has NYC, Chicago and L. A. SEC has Atlanta,New Orleans and Houston.

B1G championship game played in the Rose Bowl.

Here's a novel idea for Big Ten expansion:

Add USC; UCLA; Stanford; California; Oregon; Washington; Colorado; all of which are AAU members

The new conference would have 21 teams: East; Middle; West

East would be the current Big Ten East; Middle would be the current Big Ten West; West would be the new Pac additions

Conference championship tournament would be each division winner plus a 4th team "wildcard" ... or three teams with the #1 seed getting a bye.

The Big Ten would add the following markets:

Los Angeles (#2 TV market)
San Francisco (#6 TV market)
Seattle (#12 TV market)
Denver (#16 TV market)
Portland (#21 TV market)
San Diego (#27 TV market)

If you're stuck on the idea of an even number of teams and two (or four) divisions, then add Georgia Tech (Atlanta, #7 TV market), UNC (Charlotte, #22 TV market; Raleigh, #24 TV market), and Vanderbilt (Nashville, #30 TV market).

Big Ten Atlantic
Penn State
Rutgers
Maryland
Georgia Tech
North Carolina
Vanderbilt

Big Ten Great Lakes
Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Indiana
Purdue
Illinois

Big Ten Plains
Northwestern
Wisconsin
Minnesota
Iowa
Nebraska
Colorado

Big Ten Pacific
USC
UCLA
California
Stanford
Oregon
Washington

BIGGUS DICKUS: NYC, Chicago, LA, SF, DC, Seattle. Next Tier: Philly, Pit, Baltimore, Cleveland, Columbus, Cincy, Detroit, Indy, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Omaha, San Diego, Orange County, (throw Vegas in too), Sacramento, Portland.

I'd rotate the Biggus Dickus championship game between the Rose Bowl and the Bears' new stadium if that happens. If not, Lucas.

Meanwhile, the SEC has….more rednecks and some hipster nerds in Austin.

P.S. they pull this off and I say you change the name to the B1G (ten inch) and just pay Areosmith the royalties.

For the record I support the idea offered by @BB73 , keeping the playoff to 4 teams and making it so that the 16 team SEC only gets one team in, just like the 3 other remaining power conferences.

But what you guys are discussing is truly The Conference of Northern Aggression(TM)

Include GT and have the Championship game in Atlanta.
Winner of the game gets the William Tecumseh Sherman Trophy
