I wouldn't be shocked if we should become a member of the S-E-C within the next ten years.
While we're at it, why don't we all just marry Michigan girls?

Interesting (to me) dynamic: If TCU and Baylor both win out and neither make the playoff, some will perceive that the lack of a CCG (an extra game against a quality opponent) would be part of what contributed to their downfall. If that happens, would they see that as a handicap for their league going forward and would they start looking to add two more members?

I think they already recognize they need a CCG. They were an early adopter, so I think they have a good grasp of why it's beneficial.
The issue is finding 2 schools. BYU could be an obvious one... maybe Boise State?
I don't know, as it stands right now they're the only conference actively looking at Mid Majors... PAC is the only other conference to recently admit a Mid Major (Utah).
The B12 is financially weak, structurally weak, geographically limited (overwhelmingly in Texas and losing ground), and surrounded by 3 very large conferences that'd love to poach some of their schools - particularly the ones in Texas (4 conferences if you count the ACC, which I imagine would be open to adding WVU.)

Anyway T Boone Pickens wants to add Memphis and SMU.

They could petition the NCAA to have a championship game with less than 12 teams. I don't see any good reason why it wouldn't be approved.

...and they've proven that "validation" to be flat wrong, having lost to every team with a lick on their schedule this year.
That sort of shit happens every ear, where a team fails to live up to expectations. I also used to think that there should be no polls until the 4th or 5th week, but if the polls make the corrections like they should, then having Punxsutawney Central Tech at #5 in the preseason polls is no big deal as long as you drop them like a bad habit if they start to lose a lot. As long as there are preseason polls, there has to be some sort of methodology of racking and stacking teams. It's not necessarily the polls' fault for Oklahoma failing to play like they should...

Yea, I mean, why let them change that just so they can get another game. No one else gets to have a ccg without 12 or more teams, why should they?
I don't know why the NCAA forbids divisions and CCGs for conferences under 12 teams. I'd see no problem with the Big XII splitting back into divisions like they had prior to Mizzou and TAMU leaving, only with five teams per division instead of six. Here are my ideas for the divisions:

Texas-Plus Division:
Baylor
TCU
Texas
Texas Tech
West Virginia

Non-Texas Division:
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
