Missouri curators vote to explore leaving Big 12

ST. LOUIS (AP) — It wasn’t too long ago that Missouri chancellor Brady
Deaton spoke of “working every day to hold the Big 12 together.” Now
he’s been tasked with helping decide whether the Tigers are the latest
program to leave a troubled conference fighting for its future.

University curators voted unanimously Tuesday night to consider leaving
the Big 12 instead of committing to the league for the long term. The
governing board’s members agreed unanimously after a 4-hour closed
meeting at the system’s St. Louis campus to give Deaton authority to look
elsewhere, specifically “any and all actions necessary to fully explore
options on conference affiliation….which best serve the (school’s) interest.”

Conceivably, Missouri could remain in the Big 12, Deaton said, but the Tigers are officially on the market now. And the SEC could use a 14th member to balance a league that now has an odd number of teams.
.
.
.
A Missouri move would mean the Big 12 is likely to add at least two teams and that could put the Big East on guard again. That conference has already had two members -- Pittsburgh and Syracuse -- poached by the Atlantic Coast Conference and is trying to recruit new members.
If the Big 12 wanted to stretch farther east, Louisville, Cincinnati and West Virginia of the Big East could be targets. There has also been speculation that the Big 12 could pursue BYU, TCU, SMU, and Houston.
One Big East coach feared the worst, telling ESPN.com via text message, "the big east is finished."

My guess is that (if the SEC has actually extended an offer per article below) Missouri has now made a decision to accept it, i.e. they are joining the SEC:

Source says MU has informal offer from SEC

The Southeastern Conference has an informal offer on the table for Missouri to join its league, an option that may not be needed after the Pac-12 decided Tuesday night that it was not going to expand.
.
.
.

Word of the informal agreement came to The Star from a Missouri booster who spoke directly to a Missouri official. Another source told The Star on Tuesday that an Oklahoma official said the SEC is interested in Missouri.

The Birmingham (Ala.) News reported later on Tuesday that the SEC and Missouri have ?informally agreed that, barring new developments, the school will join the league and that Auburn University will move to the SEC East Division.? The report cited two people familiar with the discussions, adding that, ?(a) majority of presidents has endorsed the informal agreement.?

The additions of Missouri and Texas A&M, which has already stated its intention to leave for the SEC and been approved by the conference, would bring the number of SEC teams to 14.

The articles that came out shortly after said there was no offer. But we know how this works. By the time the press is aware of it all deals are already made. The Big XII is pushing hard to convince America that it is peaceful and harmonious, they've even gone as far to make generalizations about Missouri's stance. They're setting this up to make Missouri look like a bag of ass for leaving.

You have to assume the SEC has extended an offer to Missouri. Here are my possible scenarios:

2:1 - Missouri to SEC
5:1 - Missouri to Big Ten
5:1 - Missouri assumes someone will take them, fails, stays in Big XII
20:1 - Missouri to ACC
50:1 - Missouri to Big East
50:1 - Missouri to Pac-12
