im sure it's been thrown in several times but adding notre dame would be that best it just sucks that they make too much money and don't want to join a conference. the big 10 would get a bigger rep as well as notre dame for playing a more solid schedule instead of several weak teams and usc. geographically it would make more sense to take a big east team seeing as how the big east doesn't have a conference championship. it would be nice to add another solid team to the big 10. maybe everyone would stop bashing so much

not that I have a horse in this race but if the Big 10 added another team and went to divisions and a CG...then I think the big 10 should keep michigan and OSU in the same division. The game is generally the life or death for both programs in a given season -- well mostly death for michigan lately, but whatever -- keeping both programs in the same division would help keep the game in this same situation.

I do think the big 10 needs to do something. Ending your season that early while other conferences are having high profile games can't be a positive for you guys. Out of sight, out of mind...whether you want to believe it or not, it is natural human behavior and humans are still 2/3 of the BCS.

I understand that it is a double edged sword and it does give you another opportunity to lose. However, how often do you think opportunities like 2007 will come around compared to you guys winning your division and conference game and pretty much keeping your own destiny in your control???

I also agree with the other poster that the conference championship game do help prepare the kids for the big bowl games. It is another big time game that is the last game before the bowl game...it sure as hell can't hurt

exactly! i hate worrying about the 50+ days ohio state has off before bowl games. the pac-10 doesn't have a championship game but how is usc still playing games 2-3 weeks after the ohio state/michigan game? and i definitely agree on keeping osu/mich in the same division that way it doesn't take away from the rivalry. it may keep the best 2 teams out of a conference championship but it keeps the season going longer which would benefit the big 10.

The whole reason the other conferences even have a CCG is greed. They wanted more fucking money.

There isn't a bigger game, especially for tOSU or TSUN than The Game. Period.

this is true...however....it is "another" big game and that is the point...and it isn't 50 days out before the next game

as for greed, agreed...but to be honest with you, I thoroughly enjoy the CCG's. We have had some epic battles and great memories in our CCG's...

I for one will never complain about more football

To be fair, there isn't much in college football these days that isn't about greed.
The Game isn't about greed.

I will complain as loud and hard as I fucking can if there is another big ten game played by either tOSU or TSUN after The Game.

He's saying there should be NO other games played after The Game.

Not just between OSU/Mich, but between any Big10 teams.

ooooooooooh......i got ya

but there are always going to be a game played after that game (bowl games). And right now, all that time off and 50 day lay off cannot be helpful. So maybe the big 10 needs to go to a pac 10 type schedule and move the osu/mich game back a couple weeks to accommodate the "last game" crowd???

The bowl games are a bonus. They are an afterthought. Sure, I'd like for tOSU to play in, and win, a BCS bowl game every year...but I NEED to beat TSUN. The losses to UF, LSU, and UT hurt, sure...but losing to TSUN sticks with me even if tOSU wins it's bowl games. On the flip side, even though tOSU lost those BCS games...we still beat Michigan, and that makes my off season just fine.

NDSU wouldn't be the bottom

Relax. Crimony. You even realized the idea was absurd when admitting you'd probably get laughed at. I'm supposed to find the good things about your proposal? That's your job.

If you read back in this thread, some were laughing at schools like Rutgers and WV.

No way in hell does the B10 take a current 1-AA team. Michigan would never allow it.

You're right, TSUN, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Indiana would all protest because that's another loss each year. Although I suppose the rest would protest because even a win over NDSU wouldn't mean anything. However, the academics of NDSU would benefit The Big Ten but that's about it.

But, that's all, just thought I'd throw it out there to see what people would say.

On the other hand I think it should be a team located in the midwest not form the east. Notre Dame would be a perfect fit.
