If Baylor wants to be invited to a conference -- any conference -- it'd be a good idea not to go suing all their former partners on the way out the door.

Of course, but I don't expect them to behave logically. They have an inflated sense of self worth, and can see that this is the end of their AQ conference days.

At the rate Baylor is going, they may just be the cornerstone of the WAC. I bet that rivalry game between them and UTSA will be intense!

Do you really think that those numerous reports don't have a vested interest in the situation. They are not the worldwide leader in sports "NEWS/TRUTH". Everyone has an angle. ESPiN is looking out for itself. Reporters/bloggers are not as altruistic as you would think.

To me what PBC says is believable because it makes sense. Of course the B1G is going after the 2 biggest fish in the pond, duh. Anyone who says they are not is an idiot, has ulterior motives or both (ESPiN).

Delany even said they want 10s not 6's and 7's ('cuse, rutgers, mizzu, etc). Delany also said the B1G was looking at the new demographics. That is not UNL, sorry to our new friends in Nebraska. It means South.

ND has been approached many times by B1G and to think there isn't an almost continuous conversation there is just plan stupid.

What PBC has laid out over the last 2 years is the "Delany" plan. Destruction of the BIGXII and forcing a seismic shift in the NCAAF. Which in turn frees UT to join B1G and forces ND into a conference specifically the B1G.

Lastly as stated by Delany and PBC this is not a quick process. It will take years. Specifically, when TV contracts are up, football scheduling can be worked out and UT's ugly sisters can find a home.

I don't profess this to be gospel, but it makes a lot of sense to me.
It makes sense to those of us who like the addition of UT and ND, but it doesn't necessarily make sense to UT or ND....it appears that they would either rather not go anywhere or go elsewhere. Again, I'd love to see UT in, but I'm not buyin' what PBC is sellin' anymore. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Conference Officials Meet; New Texas Faction Strongly Pushes for B1G Invite
Big Ten officials met today to discuss how the conference could and should accommodate both Texas and ND. In short, the conference believes that the membership of each school can be accomplished largely within the context of the terms presented. Some other interesting developments have taken place in the last few days.

Over the weekend, a new group of Texas stakeholders made a very aggressive push to the Big Ten conference to invite UT to the conference in the short term.

cont...

If Texas is just waiting for Oklahoma to bury the Big 12, they may get their wish soon.

I'm starting to wonder if we might end up with five 14-team conferences. The BCS could take the 4 highest rated among the 5 CCG winners into a 4-team playoff, with 2 bowls on New Year's Day and the Championship game a week or two later.

B1G
Tex-Neb-Iowa-Minn-NW- and (Illini-Wisc or TSUN-Sparty)
tOSU-PSU-ND-Ind-Purd and (Illini-Wisc or TSUN-Sparty)

PAC-14
Ore-OgSt-Wash-WashSt-Stan-Cal-Utah
USC-UCLA-Ariz-ASU-Okla-OkST-Colo

SEC
Fla-UGA-Tenn-SCar-Ky-Vand- and (WVU/Mizzou - if Mizzou, Aub might flip to East)
Alab-Aub-Ark-OleMiss-MissSt-LSU-aTm

ACC
BC-Clem-FSU-Md-NCSt-Wake (1 of Syr/Pitt/Rutgers)
Duke-GT-Miami-NCar-Va-VT (1 of Syr/Pitt/Rutgers_

BigEast
Cinci-UConn-LVille-USF-(Mizzou/WVU), and (2 of Syr/Pit/Rutgers)
TCU-Kans-KanSt-TexTech (3 of BYU/IowaSt/Baylor/UCF/Navy/Army)

3 of these teams would be left out of the 70-teams with a shot at the BCS Title game. But if that end up being something like BYU-Baylor-Iowa State, or UCF-Army-Navy, is it really going to matter?

With 7 teams in each division, there are 6 divisional games, 1 protected crossover, 6 teams rotating for 2 other crossover games, and 3 open slots for each team in a 12-game schedule. That should be workable for everybody.

You're missing the best part of that scenario. The debate of over which team should be the four seed and which should get left out will give the talking heads plenty of ammo to rehash 24/7.

What I really like about a potential ND-Texas addition is the potential death of Legends and Leaders. With the addition of Texas as an anchor in the West, it's very possible to have this alignment:

Big Ten East: Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame
Big Ten West: Illinois, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas

Good competitive balance, all of Notre Dame's conference rivals in division, no doubling up OSU/Michigan.

Protected crossovers:
Penn State - Nebraska
Ohio State - Wisconsin
Michigan - Minnesota
Michigan State - Iowa
Indiana - Illinois
Purdue - Northwestern
Notre Dame - Texas

I think that would work really well.

Got UCF twice and missing Texas Tech and the smurfs.

I like 5x14. For the B1G, going to 16 probably doesn't add enough value if they already have Texas and ND. Nebraska added value to the TV $ mainly because of adding the B1G championship game. Without that it would have to be a huge name school in a big tv market to add more value per share.

It does seem like the PAC12/14 want to get to 16. They have supposedly offered OK, OK ST, Texas and Texas Tech. If they can't get Texas PAC12/14 might stop there. They want the Texas market as much as anyone but who do they take? They won't take Baylor, SMU nor TCU because of religion. Do they raid CUSA? Make a play at A&M? Forget the state or Texas and go after Kansas and Kansas St?

The purple poster has said that ND only wants a 8 game conference schedule.
