Didn't see it posted yet: PBC says the Big 10 told Oklahoma "No Thanks":

The Big Ten just concluded a call with representatives from the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents, initiated by Oklahoma.

The call confirmed that the Big Ten would NOT extend an invitation to Oklahoma to join the conference.

The only way that actually happened is if they said "we would like to apply, but only if we can bring our idiot brother along."

You mean you think if Okie sought admission, no strings attached, the Big Ten would accept?

I'm just saying I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility that the Big Ten would turn down Okie, even if the proposal was Okie and no Okie State. In fact, I think it is more likely than not that the Big Ten wouldn't want Okie.

It was pretty clear he was saying OU is not close to worthy, thus the only possible way they even talk about it is because the mighty 'Horns asked about it.

Your question was asking the complete opposite of what he was saying

I took the bolded part of Woody's post ("The only way that actually happened") to be referring to the Big Ten turning down Okie's request to join the conference. In other words, and in light of what he was responding to, I took his post to mean that the only way the Big Ten would turn down Okie would be if their request to join the conference included as a stipulation that Okie State also be included. I don't see how else to interpret his post, but maybe he can shed some light.

I'd suggest doing some light reading on Oklahoma's track record before fully committing to that awful comparison.

Big Red Sports/Imports that is all I will say.... and thats only going back a few years... like i said 10 pages ago... they are 1 lawsuit or pissed off booster away from Miami

No, you are correct. I fully believe that if Oklahoma came to the B1G and requested admission without Okie State in tow, the B1G would at the very least consider it for longer than 5 days before saying "no way." Oklahoma is too big of a brand to just turn away like that, regardless of academics or past scandals. To do so would be utterly foolish. There is virtually no big name program out there that has not had scandals attached to it. I would be absolutely shocked if the B1G has not been talking to the OK people already. I put very little faith into the PBC "leaks."

I'm curious as to why you are so confident in your assessment of the situation but put very little faith in someone else's assessment who pretty clearly has some kind of connection with the Big Ten offices in Chicago.

Simply hubris? or do you have some sort of insider information as well.

Unless Texas is playing in the B1G this year with A&M, then no, he was not.

 because everyone knew exactly who the expansion candidate would be from the very beginning in Chicago, no alternatives were explored, no scenarios other than Nebraska were even considered

I am more curious as to why people think that the Big Ten offices would purposely leak information to a Northwestern rivals board, because in order to put your faith in PBC, that's exactly what you have to believe.

You have to believe EXACTLY this and there is no other scenario even remotely possible.

Do you read the things you write before you post them?

I don't recall saying this. I do, however, recall that PBC said that Texas and A&M were coming to the Big Ten last year, as soon as they sent Texas Tech to the Pac. (This is AFTER Nebraska was announced) Now he is saying that it was always Texas and Notre Dame as a package deal. I have no doubt that the B1G was in negotiations with Texas last year and this year as well, again, it would be foolish not to. But this is just common sense, and it doesn't take a connection to the B1G to speculate about it.

I can tell that you don't read the things I write before you respond to them. Because that is exactly what PBC himself has been implying. Have you even been reading his posts since last year?

I now have the opinion that PBC is purposely being used to spread some truth and some lies. His first post last year was probably accurate and ruffled some B1G feathers. They decided to use him.

My gut tells me he is being used in some sort of game of half-truth, half-misinfo from the B1G offices designed to somehow keep conferences at 12.

I'd be glad to be wrong and see us pick up UT, ND and at that point we could name the other two (probably Missouri and someone).

Re: Is PBC or his source going to get into trouble?ReplyAs PBC said before, he'd never post anything he wasn't leaked for purposes of distribution. Maybe I'm a conspirator--and I don't think I am--but PBC seems to be given stuff to put out there purposefully, whether to undermine the information due to the medium or get things geared up.

Call me Fitzgerald.
