I haven't read anything that would lead me to think that Nebraska is not interesting to the Big Ten. The Dispatch article makes it sound like Texas Tech, not aTm, may be the real sticking point in bringing Tejas to our league.cincibuck;1711641; said:1. sounds like the Big 10 wants Texas -- alone.
In that article there is a quote from a Delany-authored e-mail:falconosu;1711624; said:E Gordon Gee has been in contact with the Texas President about expansion. The Columbus Dispatch has the emails. The article is here.
"Also need to make sure we leverage this to increase chances of hr additions. Finally double chess # of moving parts including not harming brand as we executy."

Why? Texas sees the Big 12 is going to get picked apart, and the money making school of NCAA should go with the money making conference. ND's ego is soothed by having Texas join and they can save face with that. Texas gets their Big 12 counterparts to ease that, and Rutgers adds the NJ/East Coast market they want which helps PSU out.

Why? Expands into the Great Plains and adds a nice mix of football and basketball schools. The Kansas and Utah additions are the next up after the others headed to the Big Ten. They'd like A&M but they'll be headed elsewhere......
bigdog3300;1711783; said:SEC adds Texas A&M, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Clemson.
Why? I know some feel Miami should be a fit, and maybe they would be but I think this mix of teams is the broadest land grab for them. Texas A&M is their first choice though even over FSU based on the huge Texas market. They'll be highly courted which will make it easier for them to give up their connection to UT.
bigdog3300;1711783; said:ACC adds Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Cinci, USF, WVU, UConn, and Louisville.
Why? After their losses to the SEC, they rebound by adding what is left of the Big East. This makes them the basketball conference and expands them a little further inland. Both conferences merging makes for the easiest of transitions. Huge, huge basketball conference, wowza.
Big East and the Big 12 are put to rest.
Schools such as Baylor, Kansas State and Iowa State are left thinking.......oh boy. Probably left to join another conference such as the MWC and soothed by that conference getting an automatic BCS berth.
