Michigan - 1

Ohio State is batting with nobody on and two outs in the top of the fifth inning. Michigan has out hit the Buckeyes 5-3, but Ohio State took advantage of the lone error of the game scoring two unearned runs in the second inning.

Still 2-1 tOSU. scUM batting in the bottom of the 8th with one out and a man on second. Just changed pitchers, Meister in for DeLucia. Fly ball, now 2 out.


edit - Grounder to short, going to the 9th inning up 2-1. scUM's DH is due up second, he's 3 for 3 so far.

edit - bottom of the 9th. 1 out, then their DH got a walk and stole second. Crap, they just singled him home. 2-2 game. I should have said "Scheidt", that's the guy that knocked in the tying run.

Going into extra innings.

scUM pulled their pitcher Brauer. Only gave up 2 unearned runs in 10 innings.

Leadoff batter on for tOSU in the 12th. On second with 1 out after a grounder to the right side. Intentional walk. Liner to short, 2 out, still men on 1st and 2nd.

Woohoo! Angle RBI single to left. 3-2 Buckeyes. Do I sound like Ernie Harwell? Joe Nuxhall? Thom Brenaman? Vin Scully?

Sorry. scUM just tied it in the bottom of the inning and has a runner on 3rd with one out....

They walk the bases loaded.

3-1-3 DP!!!!! Onto the 13th!!!!!

1st and 3rd, no outs. Jason Zoeller batting. RBI double. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, still no outs.

Well, I want to say thanks to Bucky Katt for stopping by the booth and helping with the play-by-play during the extra innings. Did you know that Bucky Katt spelled backwards is Y-K-C-U-B T-T-A-K? He's a great guy and a true Buckeye fan.

Back to the game in the bottom of the 13th, which is how many Budweisers I've had so far today.

After a lead-off single, we got a strikeout swinging. After another single put runners on first and third, we got another strikeout swinging. And another strikeout swinging.

Cubs win! Cubs win!

Sorry - Bucks win! Bucks win!

7-3 final, and I was about to gag on the cigar smoke coming from my regular partner in the booth.

I would have responded earlier, but there were 2 guys from the production crew pounding on my chest to get things going again. Although one of them looked a lot like George Wendt.

Iowa will be taking the field against Minnesota soon. If Iowa wins, tOSU will play #1 seed (and tournament host) Illinois in the next round at 8:05 Eastern time on Thursday. If Minnesota wins, Minny will play the Illini while the Buckeyes will face #2 Purdue at 4:35 Eastern time on Thursday.

You know, the Cubbies have a Triple-A team in Iowa, which spelled backwards.....
