Folanator

Brawndo's got electrolytes...
I just heard a re-make of a 1980's Phil Collins tune sung by some freeken psudo-metal band and it flat out sucked. It got me thinking the following. Considering that most bands these days have zero talent, the powers that be have gone back and dug up all of the good songs of days gone past for them to cover.

What is your favorite cover song and what is the worst of all time?

My Favorite:

Peter Rowan, No Woman No Cry by Robert Nesta Marley

Worst: What ever crap I heard on the radio today

As much as I like Red Rowan, I thought you knew that it was already established musical canon that All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix was the best cover of all time. Dylan himself was quoted as saying something like 'Watchtower was a Jimi Hendrix song that I just happened to write'.

Worst cover, that Hasselhoff version of 'hooked on a feeling' or whatever that horrid video is. Blech.

Favorite: Proud Mary (Ika and Tina Turner cover of a CCR original)

Worst: Is the "Goodbye England's Rose" version of "Candle in the Wind" considered a cover even though it's also by Elton John?

Agree....

I'll throw in Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love" as a cover of a Wille Dixon's "You need Love"

Worst...

Tori Amos's "Smells like Teen Spirit"

FWIW, The Gourds recorded a well circulated cover of Gin and Juice which is frequently (and erroneously) credited to Phish and/or Ween. Not sure if Hayseed Dixie also recorded a version, but it may be The Gourds...
I think we're talking about the same version. I was quite sure it was Hayseed Dixie. You may well be correct.

AKAK - you could pick damn near any Zep tune.

CSNs version of Woodstock smokes Joni Mitchell's.
