Best Restaurant/Steak House in Cbus?

BuckeyeFlorida

Resident Science Dork
All right, so my girlfriend's extremely picky and critical parents are coming in for a visit in a few weeks and we're going up to Cbus (from Athens) to catch a Bluejackets game, have dinner and drinks and spend the night. The problem is that they're Italian, so unless it's pasta or a $45 steak (or Olive Garden), they hate food at restaurants and steaks are always held to the Charlie's standard (for those of you from or visiting the Tampa/Orlando area).

So to the point, I need some advice on where to take them for dinner, preferably a steak house, that will hold up to their standards. I know I've heard Kirk mention one on his radio show, but I can't remember the name.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Handke's is definitely the best restaurant in Cbus. Hyde Park, just off of Henderson, is the best STEAK restaurant in Cbus. Mitchell's doesn't hold a candle to Hyde Park. Handke's is smaller and a lot more intimate. I would recommend Hyde Park. You can look at Handke's menu online, though, if that helps.

I agree that Hyde Park or Morton's are better choices than Mitchell's, unless you want lobster bisque...

You really can't go too wrong with any of the Cameron Mitchell restaurants, though. For Italian, I'd skip Bucca and head to Martini.

For really great pasta, though, try Due Amici, downtown on Gay Street.

Another great restaurant is G. Michael's in German Village.

The top steak houses in the city imo are (I've never been to Handke's, however I understand they are top notch as well):
Mortons of Chicago
Lindy's
Smith & Wollinski
Mitchell's
Hyde Park
Ruth's Chris

If price to quality is an issue I would suggest Hyde Park. They are far and away at the top... much better prices, and their steaks come with a side salad... which is not the case with the other chop houses on the list).

The Claremont is another more reasonably priced spot... their steaks are not near the quality of the above list, and their customer service is horrible (I've been there half a dozen times and had horrible service each time... they've gotten orders wrong, brought meals out 15 min. apart, basically treat you as a second class person unless you have blue hair and frequent their restraunt).
