i don't know about hangovers but plain bread soaks up the alcohol when your at a point where anything else will make you urp.

Chew up 3 or 4 aspirin before you go to bed. Wash them down with some water.
Been doing it that way for years and years and it works every time.
The only problem you might have is remembering to do it. I got so that I would leave the aspirin on the bathroom sink before I went out.
Also, chewing up aspirin isn't so bad if you are shit faced.
