Wow... Toughie.

Hmm... best Drive train... but worst body... I had a 1983 Datsun 280ZX 2+2... Wonderful In line 6. Great Tranny... but like most Datsun's the body was slowly but surely rusting out from under you... As a side note.. one of the switches in the ignition system broke at one point and the part was like $400 bucks- I was in College at teh time--, so I Actually wired a swtich through the firewall to the battery and starter that had a button that I mounted in the glove box... so you put the key in, and opened the glove box and pushed the button to fire the starter..that was kind of cool. The last straw to that car, as most of it rotted away was that some ass smased the windshield and t-tops with a baseball bat while it was parked behind my Fraternity house. To quote Vincent Vega, "It would have been worth them doing it if I could have caught them"

My next favorite car was a 1991 BMW 318... had that for a year and a hlaf until some jack ass in a brand new 330 rear ended me on an exit ramp... The cool thing was that I did drive my car home and the 330 went home on a truck. Still a real shitty day.... I have a 325 now, that I still don't like quite as much, even though it is more powerful, I don't think its especially "quicker" with the added weight of the motor and Transmission set up.

Honorable Mention, 1987 VW Scirocco II. With 130 hp and only about 2000 pounds it was quick- reliable and agile as hell... as a matter of fact, braking on any corner at any speed was optional... neat little car.. I paid 2K for it and drove it for nearly 5 years. Gave it to my Brother in law... and its still being driven, and actually has done some SCCA parking lot racing when his regular car is "down"

Worst car... 1985 or 6 Nissan 200SX Turbo... it Turboed a rod right through block about 4 months after I got it. Ahh well.

Worst is anything Mopar..

Blasphemy!!!

Best 68 Firebird
Worst 85 VW Rabbit Deisel It was like driveing a Semi without the power. You had to speed up going downhill so you could make it up the other side. On a good note, when I inherited it there was already 389k on it and it still go 40+ mpg's, although when you turned on the A/C the whole dash shook.

Worst: '94 Grand Cherokee was horrible... I think the transmition actually fell out of the car...

Best: '97 Acura 3.2 TL... nice looking, ran well, no maintenance issues... sold it to my sister four or five years ago and she's still driving it... still runs great...

2000 Lexus gs300 best car I ever owned. That car was bulilt like a brick shithouse. I still think Acura/Honda Lexus/Toyota are the best cars by far to own .

1986 Olds 98 1st car. Owned the car for 2 weeks. I bought the car for 700$ The 2nd day I bought the car I tryed to open the back doors, and they were glued shut. Yes glued shut. That same day I was driving and it started to rain I put the wipers on . The next minute the windshield wiper rubber came off and scratched the windshield all across. The wipers were all dryrotted and came apart when I was driving. I had to stay under and overpass until the rain stopped. 2 weeks later the tranny shot forward about 6 times and then the car went to its resting place the junkyard.

Chryslers can be a very interesting brand.. generally they are a good looking vehicle and in my experience they ride extremely well.. especially the Town & Country on trips...

you just have to ignore the fact every one will need at least one new transmission... and if you don't buy the extended warrantee package you have just validated the fact you are a very uninformed buyer...

I loved my 74 Trans Am... but that hood did cut out enough visibility to make for some hairy 'almosts' .. they don't do well with car seats.. so bye bye...

Best... Hmm I guess I would have to say my new saturn.

Wost... without question the 1989 Mazda RX-7. The RX-7 was fun to drive, but it broke down at least once every other month. To make it worse the parts cost about 3 times as much as a part for a domestic car, and it took about 2 weeks to get them, $3000 for the exhaust, $100 for a wire harness are some examples. The car had various electrical problems, shorts, and just weird shit that would happen. After my experience with it I decided that I would never buy another Japanese car again.

One car I am glad I didn't own was the Jaguar From Hell... used car at the dealership where I worked. The guys in the shop loved that car... worked on it to get it "just right..." but there was simply no cooperation from the machine itself. There was a problem every time it was driven.

I recall a couple taking it out for a test drive and being stranded. Then, a salesperson took it to lunch ("advertising") and came back with huge clouds of black smoke billowing overhead... our general manager was furious that he brought it back, thus admitting it was ours. We finally gave up when someone else tried to take it to a meeting in VA Beach and it died in the tunnel... during rush hour...
