It'll be tougher to have sex or smoke on sidewalks or in parks in Berkeley, Calif., after the City Council passed a controversial new measure Tuesday, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Anyone who thinks Berkeley--much less Cal-Berkeley--is full of hippies hasn't been there in a generation. Yes, there are some lingering vestiges of the sixties in lower Berkeley and near the campus, but I'll also guarantee you that there are more multi-million dollar homes in the N. Berkeley hills than in the entire Columbus metro area.

BTW, I assume the sex part had more to do with the latter half of "sidewalks and parks" than the former half, and I seem to remember quite a few police stings in Columbus' parks for illicit sexual activity. The bulk of the arrests always seemed to be married suburbanites.
