Looking at the schedule....ouch....

at least they have Baltimore coming to Cincy, @Cleveland and then KC coming into Cincy. They aren't winning against Jax, Indy, Washington or Pittsburgh or Philly at this point.

Dual 0-16 teams? Damn.....

?If the season ends and we don?t win a game,? Houshmandzadeh vowed, ?I will walk from my house to the NFL Network studios.?
Houshmandzadeh?s house is in Cerritos, Calif., 27 miles from the NFL Network studios in Culver City. If that weren?t challenging enough, the majority of the walk would have to take place on I-405, a heavily driven interstate. ...

According to Google, the walking route is 25.4 miles and would take about 8 hours, 26 minutes ? so boy, do the Bengals have a lot on the line!

? Houshmandzadeh guarantees at least two wins

Other than Rivers, newcomers haven't had much impact

Keith Rivers

CINCINNATI -- Bengals linebacker Keith Rivers has seven more weeks of eating soup through a straw and stewing over the hit that prematurely ended his rookie season. There is little he can do to purge the anger and frustration -- emotions that might serve him well on the field or in the weight room, if only he was allowed.
"I can't do anything that would make me strain too much and pull at my mouth," he said.

NFL notebook: Bengals lose safety to hamstring injury

Friday, October 31, 2008 2:53 AM

The Cincinnati Bengals lost a second defensive starter in as many weeks when they placed safety Dexter Jackson on injured reserve yesterday because of a pulled hamstring suffered during practice Wednesday.
Marvin White will replace Jackson in the starting lineup, alongside Chinedum Ndukwe. The Bengals signed veteran safety Chris Crocker to serve as a backup. Crocker started two games for Miami earlier this season before being released last week.

Bengals 21, Jaguars 19: Fears of 0-fer are over

Bengals receiver Chad Ocho Cinco catches a 2-yard touchdown pass against Jaguars cornerback Rashean Mathis in the first quarter.

CINCINNATI -- In the moments after they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 21-19 yesterday, Bengals players gathered in their locker room and yelled the chant that has been a fan staple here for the past quarter century: "Who dey think gonna beat them Bengals?"
If any players recognized the irony of a 1-8 team chanting such a thing, they were too relieved to care. The Bengals might still be bad, but at least they will not be historically bad. They even have a bye week to savor their lone win and let the "Who dey!" chant ring in their ears.

Notebook: Sims earns more time on defensive line

Monday, November 3, 2008 2:59 AM
By Scott Priestle

The Columbus Dispatch

CINCINNATI -- Veteran Bengals defensive tackle John Thornton continues to tutor rookie Pat Sims on the finer points of line play and lecture him on the need for better practice habits. But Thornton passed a torch to Sims recently by suggesting to the coaches that the rookie play more often.
So while Thornton started yesterday's game against Jacksonville, Sims replaced him for the second series and got the bulk of the playing time alongside Domata Peko. Sims generally played on first and second downs, and Thornton played in obvious passing situations.

Looking for cheap seat? Try Paul Brown Stadium

Monday, November 3, 2008 3:00 AM

The Cincinnati Enquirer
CINCINNATI -- Many fans who saw the Cincinnati Bengals get their first win of the season, 21-19 over Jacksonville yesterday, did so without paying anything close to face value for their ticket.

After the Bengals' 0-8 start, some season ticket-holders were selling their seats for pennies on the dollar, or giving them away.
Ticket brokerages were asking as little as $11 per ticket. People hawking them outside Paul Brown Stadium were willing to let them go for $5.

A few years back I walked in to the Moeller teacher's lounge on a Monday and saw a set of 8 primo Bengals tickets pinned to the bulletine board with a "free to a good home" sign on top. On Friday after CC practice they were still siting there so I grabbed two and headed down to the stadium. Ended up in the yellow, cushioned seats at about the 35 - 40 yard line. Bengals jumped out to a 21 zip lead, led 28 - 7 at half time, 35 - 14 halfway through the 3rd and lost 42 - 35. Ah, the Bengals.

Bengals
Offense excels at short passing game

Saturday, November 8, 2008 3:06 AM

The Columbus Dispatch

CINCINNATI -- Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer continues to rehabilitate his sore elbow in the hope of playing again this season. It is a sign of his competitiveness and undying optimism.
Meanwhile, the Bengals are using their bye week to continue to tweak the game plan to fit the skills of backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and new running back Cedric Benson. A 21-19 win Sunday over Jacksonville was a sign of how far each has come in recent weeks.
The Bengals streaked to an early lead by relying on Fitzpatrick to throw short passes to multiple receivers then kept the Jaguars at bay with a physical running game led by Benson and a rejuvenated offensive line.

Bengals keep focus on the present

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CINCINNATI -- Reds first baseman Joey Votto routinely arrived at the ballpark five hours before the first pitch and retreated to the batting cage, then the video room, weight room and back to the batting cage. While the team was stuck in another lost season, he focused on winning his daily war with the pitcher. Thus, he maintained his sanity and a .297 average.
Bengals defensive end Antwan Odom might like to take the same approach, but football is not so easily distilled into one-on-one battles. No matter how many drills he runs and weights he lifts, his performance is tied closely to the performance of those around him. There is no escaping the team's 1-8 record.

Bengals
Rookies find mentor in Houshmandzadeh

Thursday, November 13, 2008 3:20 AM

The Columbus Dispatch

CINCINNATI -- Bengals receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh works officials as well as any coach, alerting them to every penalty they might be able to call on opposing defensive backs. It begins before the game, when he informs them of tendencies he noticed on film, and it continues throughout the day, when he describes every illegal push or grab he encountered.
It is one of many details about his position that Houshmandzadeh delights in. He runs precise routes, is a capable blocker, is willing to catch passes in the middle of the field, where linebackers roam, and enjoys studying opposing defenses, hoping to notice gaps in their coverage.

You don't have to read a newspaper, monitor talk radio or listen to the whining of your Cincinnati-area relatives to sense how patience with the regime of Bengals president Mike Brown has worn thin. Now all you do is drive through that city.
A group of Bengals fans who call themselves the Who Dey Revolution have purchased four billboards in town that offer a simple but powerful message: Dear Bengals, Hire a General Manager. Love, Your Fans.

Chargers game, I'm assuming?

Also, a few fans rented out a billboard last week reading, "Dear Bengals, Please Hire a GM. Thanks, your fans."

Mike Brown needs to give up. If 99% of people in this world did their jobs as horribly as he has/does, they would been fired years ago.
