Being A Buckeye For One Single Play

BB73, all great choices there.

I actually had the pleasure to correspond back and forth with Vaughn back in the "good" old days of Bucknuts. He is a registered user here, but has never posted. You can't even really call it a "block" in the 1981 game, because he basically held off 4 players to guide Art into the end-zone. Call it the best "blocksx4" in the history of the TOSU vs. scUM series.

And, WHERE IN THE HECK IS "HOLY-BUCKEYE"?

Damn! What a great thread. It's hard to say. The Byars' shoeless run was the first to come to mind, then Boston's TD in the Rose Bowl, but if I were to pick one play and one player to switch places with, it's got to be Will Allen's INT against scUM on the last play of the game to go to the Fiesta Bowl...At home...13-0...The crowd rushing the field...I would never let go of that ball. I'd be playing in the NFL with that ball still in my hands...

Greenies for Dubs...

And, WHERE IN THE HECK IS "HOLY-BUCKEYE"?

That would probably get my vote. That may be the most important single play in Ohio State history...if that play doesn't happen, we lose and don't even get the chance to play for the NC. Some may say that 4th-and-14 in the NC game was as important, in that if the play wasn't successful we don't win the NC. Well, if Holy Buckeye didn't happen, there obviously would've been no 4th-and-14. Holy Buckeye is the one clip out of the tons of clips I have that, to this day, gives me goosebumps every single time I watch it. In fact, I'm going to watch it right now...

Chris Gamble on the INT return for TD in the '02 Penn State game. He turned the 'Shoe upside down with that.

Mike Nugent...55 yard GW FG against Marshall. Game on the line, to come thorugh with a clutch kick like that in front of over 100,000, all eyes on you.

Great Thread

Gonzo's play against scUM. It's the most recent and it brought the OutHouse to a whisper.

Ted Ginn's performance against MSU last year would be a good one as well.

So would Eddie Goerge's run against the Domers.

But if I had to pick just one play it would be the 2002 NC game. The first drive Miami runs up the middle and Wilhelm stuffs it and then gets up and does a "Diamond Cutter" motion. That play(along with a couple of other defensive stuffs on the first drive) kind of set the tone, that our defense was going to be at top gear all night.

Already weighed in with Spiels v. Iowa in 85; and I decided to forego Holy Buckeye because Dubs had mentioned it in the thread opener...

But how about some love for Tatum v. Purdue in '68. That was another case of a team coming into the 'Shoe ranked #1 and leaving, not so much. It was also another case of a key play/game in a national championship run. The Assassin shut down Leroy Keyes in that game.

IIRC, Tatum had a pick 6 in that game. That would be a sweet moment.
