BCS Title: Florida 24, Oklahoma 14 (Final)

So wait...if OU wins, you won't be chanting "BIG 12! BIG 12! BIG12!"?

I'll leave that to SEC people. That is so irritating. Plus, I'm very upset with the Big 12 this year and its stupid tiebreakers. The only other Big 12 teams I'm going for are NU and OSU. I think it would be funny if Tech lost to Ole Miss. Kansas and Mizzou I'm indifferent about. And of course I hope Florida gives Bob Stoops menstrual cramps.

Did you know that the 6th tiebreaker (the 5th being the BCS rankings) was to draw names out of a hat? How remarkably stupid. I would have rather done eenie meenie miney moe.

Bubble gum, bubble gum, in a dish is the B10's, I believe. I'm o.k. with that.

OU sucks. I hope Tebow throws an errant pass into Bob Stoops' left ovary.

Good lead in.

The mighty OU offense and their gaudy numbers....

Let's look at the defenses they have faced when compared to Florida.

The "best" five defenses UF has faced were ranked 3, 4, 11, 13, and 15.

The "best" five defenses OU faced were ranked 2, 26, 50, 66, and 68.

The next best five defenses UF has faced were ranked 25, 28, 29, 36 and 37.

The next five best defenses OU faced were ranked 86, 87, 94, 99, and 110.

The last three defenses UF faced were ranked 59, 73, and 90 (Citidel).

The last three defenses OU faced were ranked 111, 113, and 117.

There are only 119 teams.

Six of OU's defensive opponents were ranked lower than the Citidel.

The OU offense looks very good.

But then, it damn well should.

I hope UF rolls over OU, then maybe the media and country can start hating on OU the same way we get hated on, OU is 1-4 in BCS games, and we are 4-2, I think, why the hate towards us?

Personally, I would rather tOSU win their BCS games and the media can hate all they want.

Meyer, Stoops meet in Hollywood | GatorSports.com | The Gainesville Sun | Gainesville, FL

I like the Ohio-boys angle...

Meyer, Stoops meet in Hollywood
The Associated Press

By Kevin Brockway
Staff writer

Published: Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at 6:01 a.m.

HOLLYWOOD - The surprise phone call came a little more than four years ago.

Florida coach Urban Meyer had followed the career of Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops from afar before December of 2004. Both grew up an hour apart in the same Northern Ohio region, with Meyer a native of Ashtabula and Stoops a native of Youngstown.

So Meyer called to ask the fellow Ohioan about Florida, where Stoops worked as defensive coordinator from 1996-98.

[...]

Growing up in Ohio, both share the principles of Ohio State iconic coach Woody Hayes, even if their offenses don't resemble three yards and a cloud of dust. Florida has been as effective running the ball out of the spread as it has been throwing it this season, with a committee of ballcarriers that includes quarterback Tim Tebow and receiver Percy Harvin.

Oklahoma boasts Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Sam Bradford, who has thrown 48 touchdown passes this season. But the Sooners also have a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in junior Chris Brown and sophomore DeMarco Murray.

The pinball scores of both teams may have Hayes spinning in his grave, but he would approve of the approach.

"I know the quality of football in the state of Florida, believe me, but I know in Ohio, it's not talked about maybe as much, but there's great, great football," said Stoops, the son of renowned late Youngstown-area high school coach Ron Stoops. "There's great coaching and a lot of strong programs when you take a look at the legacy of coaches."

cont'd...

Outstanding point. I don't remember hearing half of this shit that's been said about Ohio State when OU laid down against LSU in the Superdome (similar conditions to what you had last year) or when when got their throats ripped out against a more athletic team (similar to the UF loss).

I'll chalk it up to Columbus being a bigger town (and OSU being a bigger school) and the Big XII being a slightly stronger league.

And that doesn't even include the loss to Boise State and the beat down by WV last season.

you can do the same analysis with scoring offense and it looks about as lopsided.

top five OU opponents scoring offense: 4, 5, 6, 8, 18

top five UF opponents scoring offense: 27, 29, 30, 32, 35,

next five for OU: 20, 21, 34, 51, and 67

next five for UF: 47, 87, 91, 92, 104
