BCS Standings & Title Game Contenders - 2010 season

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere...Boise State is projected to be #1 if the BCS rankings were out right now.

ESPN's Brad Edwards has projected what the BCS standings would look like if they were released today.

1. Who is Brad Edwards and why do we care what he thinks?
2. It's 6 games into the season. Let's let them play 6 more games before we cry about this.
3. If Ohio State does go undefeated, and ends up outside of the top 2 in the BCS standings, despite being #1 in the human polls, will we (Buckeye fans) stop harassing USC fans for claiming a national title in 2003?

No, the biggest beef I have with USC's whining and split of the 2003 title is that USC was a 1 loss team that year. I feel no sympathy for a team that gets left out when they didn't take care of their business. It's when teams go undefeated, especially in bcs leagues and get left out that I have sympathy for (Auburn in 2004 for instance).

After looking over the remaining schedule of Boise state, I'm a little more concerned. They will probably be playing a highly ranked and undefeated Nevada team for their second to last game. TCU also has Utah (11) and Air Force (23) left.

Can't blame the computers.

The schedule:

Marshall (1-4)
Miami Fla (3-2)
Ohio (3-3)
Eastern Mich (0-6)
Illinois (3-2)
Indiana (3-2)

That right there is awful (13-19). Unfortunately, the Canes aren't holding up their end of the deal, and the schedule makers whiffed with two MAC teams and a C-USA squad.
Marshall should have beaten WVU...might have changed their whole season. Illinois also had a good shot at Mizzu, and has now shown that they aren't that bad at all like everybody thought. Indiana's offense rolled all year, until they came into Columbus. Ohio and E Michigan are jokes...for sure, but at the same time we won those games 116-27...and I know margin of victory doesn't play a roll in the computers, but we rolled those teams. And we give up two ST TDs to Miami FL, and still win by 12. I know Miami looked bad against FSU this week, but they still are one of the most talented teams in the country, and they had been focused on that game all offseason.

Weak schedule? Not as weak as I think it looks on paper. But still weak. But anybody who can use the eye test knows that Ohio State deserves to be ranked #1 at this point in the season.

I agree with the eye test part. A weak schedule is a weak schedule. No need to sugar-coat it.

The controversy of this is because of the dominance we've shown and the fact that the computers say we're #5. This shouldn't be an issue, because anyone with half a brain knows that the polls that matter only matter at the end of the season.

But, the media has to get stories and the pretty clear #1 being #5 is a big story.

Records of the opponents opponents probably dragging us down too, with the 3 mac schools. You look at Boise State and TCU they are actually pulling each other up in the computers because of their mutual game with oregon state.

Agree with your end of the season assessment but actually the computers say we are #10, and the two human polls say we are #1.
That projects out to a #5 ranking in the BCS formula.

The first BCS standings come out later today.

What matters is the final pecking order. Here's a guess at how things could project in the final BCS standings.

1) Unbeaten SEC champion (LSU or Auburn with a win in the SEC Title game)
3) Unbeaten Oregon
4) Unbeaten Oklahoma (with a win in the Big XII Title game)
5) Unbeaten Sparty
6) Unbeaten Mizzou or Oklahoma State as a Big XII Champion
7) One-loss Alabama as SEC champion
8) Unbeaten Boise State or TCU
9) One-loss LSU/Auburn SEC Champion
10) Unbeaten Utah
11) One-loss Ohio State

Meaningless bull[censored] really...take care of business and see what happens.

Hmmm we are higher than I expected us to be. How pissed would you be if you're a Wiscy fan? Though I'm guessing we are above them because of our win against Miami.

I don't know about you guys... but I see possibilities here.
