BCS Standings & Title Game Contenders - 2010 season

Top 8 is a BCS bowl I think

Not a guaranteed slot, only Notre Dame in auto if they are top 8, but winning out puts us into the position to pretty much be in one but that wasn't really ever in question. Its really about the team refocusing. Obviously being at #10 puts them within striking distance of a chance to make the big dance so they still have everything to work towards

Hmmm we are higher than I expected us to be. How pissed would you be if you're a Wiscy fan? Though I'm guessing we are above them because of our win against Miami.

I don't know about you guys... but I see possibilities here.

Their win over us > our win over Miami

And they lost to a team ranked higher than us.

I don't get how they're below us, but I'm not complaining.

I heard playing Austin Peay is not good for your SOS.

Our SOS isn't exactly great.

And you'd think a win over the #1 team would make up for Austin Peay.

I know the schedules are why they're below us, but it still doesn't make much sense.

Oh, fantastic. When was the last time choklahoma won a BCS bowl game? For the absurd amount of crap (mostly unjustified) tOSU gets for their bowl record, the Bucks have won 3 BCS Bowl games since OU's last BCS win.

I agree. EMU is pretty much Austin Peay, let's be honest.

I think the fact that Wiscy just beat us, and their only loss is to an undefeated Sparty, while our SOSes are very similar in that they are weak, is just another showcasing of the shortcomings of the BCS. And I really don't see Wiscy jumping us now that we are ahead of them already... But, like you, I am not complaining.

I know EMU sucks and our SOS sucks, but doesnt playing an FCS team hurt you somehow more than playing a lower FBS team?

Apparently.

I do think it's pretty dumb that the strength of awful opponents we've played is worth more than a head-to-head win for Wisconsin. It makes absolutely no sense. If both we and Wisconsin win the rest of the way and we get into a BCS bowl ahead of them, I'm not complaining... but it's total bullshit and I'd feel pretty bad about it. They deserve it more than we do, to be honest.

The BCS is such a joke. (even though it favors us in this situation)

Hell, USC is the only school who has won more BCS bowls than Ohio State and at least one of those was tainted due to the Bush violations, but you'd never know it listening to the talking heads.

A #10 BCS rank is a nice gift right now. It gives us a great chance at a BCS Bowl if we take care of business here on out. :oh:

It still gives us a chance at a National Championship possibility.

We would need Oklahoma, Oregon & Michigan State to lose 1 of their next 5-6 games.
We would need Alabama to win out, or to win all but 1 to LSU or Auburn.

Boise State, TCU and Utah at the end of the season their SOS will negate their rankings now. They've played their toughest part of their schedule already.

But, WTF is Peter Wolfe thinking?

Granted, I'm no Oregon lover, but #11?

I guess being from UCLA, he want no other PAC10 team but UCLA to get the nod?

#11 is just absurd for a team like Oregon.

If it's SOS, then how the HELL has he got Boise at #7 and Oregon at #11? OSU at #14?

Tell ya - I NEVER believed in these bullshit "computer rankings." They're ALL OVE rthe freaking board.. Oregon anywhere from 2 to 11...
LSU has two #1's ...

Does anyone do a sanity check and certify the algorithms these wannabe-geniuses are using?
Who approves of that shit? They can be doing some dumb shit in their "computer rankings" and who would be the wiser?

Sorry for ranting, but I think that most of those people are mouthpieces looking for their 15 minutes...
When you read the detailed BCS ranking, that shit just looks STUPID!

I have a better idea - let's get a dartboard, 25 team logos, and let's get it done that way.

Might actually turn out making more sense...

Makes you wonder why AP opted out, and said please do NOT use our shit for your Bullshit Championship Screwup

Man - the last two weeks prove ANYTHING is possible...
Bama...SCAR...

Luckily, your loss is early, and you want those other team losses to come as late as possible, so they have no time to climb in the human polls, and ya want them to be upsets losses.

Still got what, 6 games to go?

The way this season has gone - bunch of 1-loss teams are still in it...

I'd love to see Boise, Utah, and TCU go undefeated, and get shut out of the BCS NCG...

Hopefully that will be the beginning of the end of this BCS bullshit...
You KNOW Hatch and company will start dragging those idiots before Congress, and 'splain to them, over the course of like 3 months, EXACTLY how that garbage works...

Hoenstly? I prefer the old way better...

Right now, it'd be Oregon on top, Boise 2nd, OK third.

Fight it out in Bowls, and wait for the final polls...
At least ya didn't have people hop-scotched over some BS computer crap.

What matters is the final pecking order. Here's a guess at how things could project in the final BCS standings.

1) Unbeaten Auburn, with a win in the SEC Title game
2) Unbeaten Oregon
3) Unbeaten Sparty
4) Unbeaten Mizzou as a Big XII Champion
5) One-loss Alabama as SEC champion
6) Unbeaten Boise State
7) Unbeaten TCU
8) One-loss LSU/Auburn SEC Champion
9) Unbeaten Utah
10) One-loss Oklahoma with a win over Mizzou in the Big XII CCG
11) One-loss Ohio State
12) One-loss Oregon
13) One-loss Wisconsin
