I don't think it was just Auburn's OOC schedule that kept them out of the Orange Bowl. I think what really did them in was being ranked lower than the other two schools in the preseason polls. Now granted, if their preseason schedule would have included three teams like Miami, Florida State, and Ohio State, then that probably would have been enough to get them in the Orange Bowl if they had won those games, but if their schedule would have included three teams like Bowling Green, Houston, and Oregon, like Oklahoma, i'm pretty sure they still would be #3. According to the the computers, those three teams aren't any worse than La-Tech, La-Monroe, and Miss State. And really, the computers are the only ones who look at OOC schedule, unless there are huge differences, because all the pollsters seem to remember are your last games. And if strength of opponent really mattered to these people, then beating a ranked Tennessee would have impressed the more than beating a crappy Colorado. The Big-12 North is so bad.
