BCS National Championship Student Ticket Lottery

Uh, last I checked, being a "real fan" (whatever that is even supposed to mean) doesn't entitle you to a ticket more than a "casual fan." Maybe next year, the ticket office should have people submit an essay so that they can tell who really deserves a ticket. :roll1:

Yeah, those poor players. Getting free tuition is really a bad deal.
I never said it entitled you to a ticket. But people who actually WANT to go to the game are getting shut out, while others make money off the team. Like I said, I'm sure that's what the system is designed for.

I just heard from both my brother and one person who actually won and went to picked up his voucher that the ticket office said that they were doing another round of numbers for the student ticket lottery since not all the vouchers were claimed.

I am not trying to sit here and whine. All I am saying is that Ohio State dicked up the set up on this, and that is why students were able to sell there lottery tickets for up to $500. All Ohio State Ticket Offices had to do was put a name with each lottery number (I am sure they could have done this by entering the number that was given out, and keeping the name of who got it by swiping your BuckID) and there wouldnt be a problem. The lines would have much shorter, since only the people who knew they were going would have tried to win, and everyone's chances would have been much better.

I agree with you, Ohio State screwed up bigtime but I've realized thoughout the 4 years that I've been here that they really just don't give a damn. I am a senior here and haven't yet had a chance to go to a national championship football game with OSU in it and I was one of the unlucky ones who didn't get their number picked. I agree that the ticket office could've stopped this lottery ticket scalping by just putting a name with a number but they are just too lazy and like I said before they don't give a damn. Unfortunately I dont have 500 dollars to buy a winning lottery ticket nor do I want to give those "scalpers", if you can even call them that, the satifaction of screwing over a fellow student. But I understand the world isn't fair and hopefully I get lucky enough to win the second round. And True Ohio State Fans would've given up their winning ticket if they knew they weren't going. That is what I'll be doing if both my roommates and my ticket wins (no he wasn't going to scalp it he just found out that he will at a friends wedding on the weekend before and gave it to me) So if I win both these tickets I will be giving it to the first person I know of who IS ACTUALLY going to Glendale for free.

A smart OSU student would've gathered up 10-15 people in a dorm, paid them all 5-10 bucks, and had them enter the ticket lottery for you. It's a small cost to virtually guarantee a ticket.

The same system was in place in 2002, and there were three student drawings. Although, that year there were 1500 singles allocated vs. 1000 this year. Still, you'll probably see 3 drawings before all 1000 are claimed.

Its great to see that our Athletic Department passed Math 148.

2500 + 1000 + 1200 + 1100 + 1000 + 1000 + 1500 + 500 + 4900 + 200 + 300 + 342 = 15,542 Tickets, not the claimed 16,000

Does anyone know where those 458 tickets went? I mean come on if you are going to try to persuade people that your hands were tied when deciding on how to distribute the tickets at least you could get the number right.

Well theres going to be a second lotto tomorrow night.

and I love how they count the cheerleaders, football team and managers in for part of the 2,800 student tickets they claim to give out. I can see claiming 1600 becuase of the extra packaged trips, but to claim the football team in as part of the student allotment is stupid.

"Students have in total about 2,800 ticket opportunities for the bowl game. Eleven hundred tickets were included in the first round of the student lottery, and another 500 are being used by students who signed on for the student/faculty/staff tour. In addition, many more tickets are set aside for students directly involved in the football program, including players, band members, cheerleaders, managers and others."

Don't people realize that if you don't buy tickets from scalpers they get knocked out of the lottery? I mean yea you don't have a ticket in your hand but you have a much better chance now of getting a ticket in the next round since all the people that aren't going are out of the lottery. Now again I am a student who can't afford to pay 500+ just for a lottery ticket. I guess if you got the money its a cheaper way.

The Ohio State Ticket office is a bunch of liars. They just told me that they had no information about the release of additional numbers tonight and when told that they had posted on their webpage that they were releasing them tonight she said "We announced that there was the POSSIBILITY of announcing more winning lottery tickets but at this time we have no extra lottery tickets"

After reading verbatim the Ohio State Athletic Department webpage she got all flustered and hung up. Seriously why do they need to lie?

Hey guys, just remember... in 2002 after 3 lottery rounds, there were still tix available. At that time, anyone with a non-winning ticket could buy tix. So basically almost everyone that wanted one, got one. Now consider, that was before class started, and this year we're a week into winter qtr. You may be getting worked up over nothing.
