Wait for his 5th year at LSU. Then all the starters will be his recruits, and no success can be attributed to Saban.
73-15 over a 7 year career at OSU. That is averaging a 10-2(Its like 10.4) record every season, if we win this bowl game, it will be averaging 11-2 every season for 7, which has included 4, this year the 5th BCS game hes in, and the 3rd NC he has been in. Now if that doesn't get him respect, wat will?

There's no denying that Tressel is a great coach, and just judging from the few interviews I've seen, an even better person. I'm definitely not trying to say that Miles belongs in the same league as Tressel. I just find the LACK of respect for Miles a bit undeserving. I spend a fair amount of time on opposing teams boards, and it's amazing the general view of him shared across the board.

I agree that Tressel has a better track record, and would definitely give you guys the advantage in the coaching department. But to say that advantage is a huge one would be a mistake on everyone in scarlet and grey's part.

If we're talking about head to head coaching matchups, Miles has been the underdog all year, and probably deservedly so. But he's done fairly well against the likes of Spurrier/Tubberville/Fulmer/Saban/Meyer/Beamer, we'll see how he does against Tressel soon enough I guess. Just please don't run a Wild Hog formation, lol, I still don't think we've figured out how to stop that one!!

I'll agree, and have even said in one of the comparison threads "Les hasn't won the big one yet, and until he does, he's rung below the guys who have". Tressel is a great coach, and in no way do I mean to bring him down in my defense of our coach. I'm just saying that Les keeps proving that he's a very good coach.

His 1st year (with basically the same team) he won more games than Saban did his last. He;s the 1st coach in LSU history to beat Florida, Bama, and Auburn in the same season (this makes twice he's done that). He won the SEC west in '05, came 3 yards away from winning it in '06 (Auburn game), won the West again with the SEC this year. In '05 we were on the edge of a MNC discussion until the final game (top 2 teams stayed unbeaten), last year we were in a very similar position to what UGA is this year. He's recruiting very well, and keeping us in the Top 5 and in MNC discussions every year. What more does he have to prove?

I do think that Les is a great coach, and I'm to not see him on the Michigan Sideline next year, I pretty sure he can bring all that so called "sec speed" that we so desperately lack here in Ohio, but I ask you this, is a great coach defined by his number of wins, or is it that he can win the close ones that go into overtime?

My only question is can he win the NC. I mean and even if he can, does he deserve to be there with coaches like Tressel? In my oppinion this year LSU underachieved. They should have killed Kentucky and they should have killed Arkansas, but instead the defense looked soft and they weren't able to win. Kentucky I honestly blame on coaching. The playcalling on that last drive was atrocious. I mean run the ball on 3rd and 2, just to set it up again on 4th and 2? I mean the pass game had been working in the game for LSU.
Arkansas, is well Arkansas and played their hearts out, so there, I can't blame Les.
But in my opinion, as good as Les may be, is he still a product of Saban's talent or is he his own man?
As well you have to say the UF gm, which was great playcalling but still.
Plus saying you can beat coaches is weak. I mean honestly, Im sure that LSU could beat some scrub team even with a great coach. I mean people killed Idaho but he had Dennis Erickson

A combination of the two. And Les has done both. We've quite close games over the last few years since Les has been here, 2 in OT. We've lost ony 6 games since he's been here, 3 in OT and only one I would consider a blowout. We've come from behind to win late, we've held onto small leads to finish out games, and we've blown some people out as well.

Was that believed (by talking heads) in past decades (you know, when the rest of the conf showed up)? I certainly haven't heard that recently.

Do you mean across OSU boards or LSU opponents in general?

If it was just this one, we could somewhat chalk it* up to his alma mater :wink: (* - our perception)

Tell me something is running a 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds slower in Ohio then it is in the south, because if it was, man that whole conf. must be chalk full of NFLer's, oh and maybe that speed could rub off on teams like Ole Miss or Miss State.
