Nah, we chant other things, like "over-rated" (Va. Tech), "Fuck You Tebow" (Florida)

To be precise, both "SEC" and "LSU" were chanted, so the "instead of" is not entirely accurate.BuckeyeNation27;1063290; said:Sorry, but that was the only retarded part about LSU fans that night....as far as my experiences went. Who the fuck chants "SEC" instead of "LSU".
The SEC didn't do shit that night.
It wasn't people who out to prove anything...it was people trying to be pricks about our pathetic 0-9 record in bowls against the SEC. It was stupid.

Buckeyeskickbuttocks;1063457; said:I guess I'll never understand the "SEC Chant" ...
Are you SEC folks telling me if your school went ACC or Big XII you'd have a problem rooting for your team of choice since you'd no longer be yelling SEC?

Gatorubet;1063478; said:I agree.
I am simply saying that our level of conference - "affiliation" - I guess, appears to be different to us as SEC members than you as Big -10 members, in that we take greater notice of the conference aspect in all non-conference games. Which is fine.
I did not post to urge you to join in our attachment level to conference affiliation, merely to note that it exists, and that chanting S-E-C in the dome was not meant to be an exclusive put down of tOSU. Finally, I do not mean to imply that your level of conference affiliation is not as valid, or strong, or anything, just that - as you say - they could kick you in the nads if you cheered "Big-10"
As you can imagine, I care about your view of that as much as you care about my view of that. Why would be want to adopt a uniform mindset about such things? It is a non-issue. My only point was to make it clear that it was not brought up and intended as an insult to the Buckeye fans solely because of the 0-9 thing.
I'm glad you were not there to kick me in the nuts![]()
Buckeyeskickbuttocks;1063488; said:No offense taken, and I understand what your position is. Still, I just don't see the point. I mean, I was happy for the Big Ten when Michigan won, but I didn't consider that a "personal win" of any kind. It didn't make me feel better, it didn't make me think more or less of Ohio State and it's accomplishments. All it did was make me say to myself, "Good. Maybe my time on the internet won't be quite as annoying"
As I said on some other thread, I used to be very different in this respect. I thought conferences superiority arguments had some merit or value or whatever, but over time I've come to realize the "top tier" ones are all the same, more or less. Up one year, or years, down others. And, again, I just can't see how whatever conference one's team is in means squat. A win for Michigan over Florida was a win for Michigan, not the Big Ten or Ohio State. A loss by Michigan State to Boston College didn't hit me in the gut. It wasn't a loss for the Big Ten. It's an arbitrary grouping. That's all.
I would have to disagree with you on the SEC chanting. I have seen it many times both at home and on the road by LSU fans as well as other SEC school fans. It didn't have anything to do with OSU's record against SEC teams. SEC fans show pride in the conference, that's a good thing. SEC fans will almost always root for an SEC team against a team from another conference, even if it's their biggest SEC rival.sluTiger;1063281; said:It was way overplayed, not by OSU, but by ESPN talking heads. Before the game you could see the resentment growing by the LSU players. Honestly, I have never seen a team that one the NC and started chanting for the conference. I all my years of watching LSU football, I have never seen the crowd start chanting SEC instead of LSU. After watching that game, I really think LSU were the ones with something to prove...
