Out of curiosity, where does UF stack up on that list? The enormous difference in your fanbase vs theirs (online at least) has me wondering...

Depends on who you talk to. Their reputation ain't exactly pretty (neither is ours though). Myself personally, I have them ranked above both schools in Bama, Tenn, Arky, and Ole Miss for sure. I've sat near at least a couple Gator fans for just about every LSU/UF game in Death Valley. So far, every one has been good company.

Anyone know the reason for tOSU practicing in their game helmets? I've never seen them do that under Tressel before.

Maybe Jim Tressel wanted to send out a message to his team that the team is going to be READY to play this time. I have a good feeling that Ohio State will play to their expectations, hopefully be able to exceed their expectations!

Yeah, I got an uncle that lives in Gainesville, and he grew up right north of Columbus. Considering the amount of UF folks I've been around, it's hit or miss. Some were great, others were jackasses. I've met fellow Buckeye fans that were just plain stupid too, but at least rooted for the right team. If you perouse the boards on other sites, you'll find more morons that just seem to miss the point of it all. Let's win it all, and there's always next year.

It's interesting how quickly it turned into a conference debate, but the BCS really feeds into that by SOS rankings. Those that argue SEC supremacy really don't have much to complain about. We both have smudges on the season, and can still wear the crown for a year. Be wary LSU, this formula of being an underdog with a chip has been very strong in years past. The literal home game will only feed this.

AP: 'Big Freezy' Takes Buckeyes by Surprise

AP National Writer Paul Newberry
THURSDAY, JAN. 3:

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Unless your postseason itinerary is stamped with a city such as Boise or Detroit, one of the main perks of a bowl trip is getting a chance to hang out for a week or so in some warm weather.

[...]

Offensive lineman Kirk Barton bundled up in the warmest thing he packed.

"I guess I'll be wearing the same hoodie every day," he said. "I brought some jeans and shirts, but I can't wear a shirt in this. I'll freeze."

[...]

"Man, the weather," moaned another lineman, Alex Boone, still shivering after he sat down in a hotel ballroom for an interview session with the media. "What's up with that?"

After finishing up, Boone pleaded for someone to pick him up right at the door, so he wouldn't have to spend any extra time outside on his way back to the team hotel just a few blocks away.

"Anybody got a car?" he asked. "Is there anybody here who can drive me. I don't even want to go outside."

AUBURN ALERT!! Becareful, he is trained to chop block...

Watching that Clemson game I was livid when the Oline tried to hurt that Dlineman with another chop block. Something has to be done down there before they ruin some young kids chance at a career. Dirty bastards.

LSU's Dorsey back on target With injuries healed, star defender expects to be his awesome self
By George M. Thomas
Beacon Journal sportswriter

Published on Friday, Jan 04, 2008
NEW ORLEANS: Ohio State won't get the break that much of the Southeastern Conference did for some of the season.
LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey will be healthy and ready to roll come 8 p.m. Monday in the Louisiana Superdome. Auburn right guard Chaz Ramsey chop blocked Dorsey on Oct. 20. Later in the year, Dorsey suffered through a bruised tailbone. The injuries hampered his production.
''It was tough. I was in pain and I was watching plays that usually I could destroy sometimes. That was the biggest thing, my body was hurting. The mental thing was killing me. It was tough just to see things I could normally do, that I wasn't able to do them.''

There's plenty for OSU players, family to do in Big Easy

NEW ORLEANS The to-do list in New Orleans is endless for Ohio State fans.

Family fun and restaurants. Bars and casinos. History and museums.

Jim Thoma has one important activity planned.

?We?re going to visit with our son,? the Mount Union College sports management professor said.

Jon Thoma is the holder and backup punter for the Buckeyes, who face LSU in Monday?s BCS college football title game in the Superdome.

Jim Thoma reminisced about taking a tour of the Superdome when Jon, a St. Thomas Aquinas graduate, was in junior high.

?Little did we know he?d be playing there someday,? Thoma said.

OSU plays hard for coach

One of the reasons Ohio State seemingly overachieves, at least in the mind of ESPN analyst Lee Corso, is the Buckeyes play hard for their head coach. Corso said he is impressed with the way Jim Tressel gets his team to play, and the team responds with its best effort.

That isn?t always easy. Ask Rich Rodriguez.

?(Tressel) brings class to the table,? left tackle Alex Boone said. ?He?s a genius. He?s smart. He knows a lot about football. He gets us fired up in a different kind of way. He?s not off the wall bonkers. You don?t know if he?s happy or sad, but he gets us going.?

Wide receiver Brian Hartline, a GlenOak High School graduate, said Tressel has returned dignity to the OSU program.

?He?s impacted who I am,? Hartline said. ?When people ask you who you are, and you sit and talk with them and say, ?I?m an Ohio State football player,? there is balance in that and pride because of Coach Tressel.

BCS Spotlight: Football's a matter of life and death in Bayou Country
Friday, January 4, 2008
BY JOSH WEIR
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

NEW ORLEANS Susan Morrow Findlay chooses her words carefully.?I don?t want to give them any locker room bulletin board material,? she said of the Louisiana State University Tigers. ?Plus, I have a husband and children in New Orleans, and I want to ensure their safety.?

The 42-year-old is kidding ... sorta.

Findlay is one of the many Bayou Buckeyes ? transplanted Ohioans ? now living in the heart of LSU country. Ohio State faces the Tigers on Monday night in college football?s BCS national championship game.

Findlay, who went to medical school at LSU after graduating from Ohio State in 1987, attended the Buckeyes? game in Baton Rouge in ?87 ? a 13-13 tie. According to the Clark County native, she had a beer poured on her head, was spit on and was pelted with debris.

LSU defensive star expects to be at full strength for OSU

Jim Naveau | [email protected] - 01.04.2008

NEW ORLEANS ? Ever since he was a 200-pound junior high kid, LSU?s All-American defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey had been like an 18-wheeler on the football field, either knocking people out of his way or scaring them out of his path.
But suddenly the second half of this season, after suffering a bruised knee and a bruised tailbone, the Tigers? 300-pound defensive leader felt like he was driving an under-powered rental car.
He hardly recognized himself on the field.
?When you?re hurt you don?t feel like yourself. You see yourself not being able to make a play where you just destroyed (an opponent) earlier when you were healthy. I?d get out there and couldn?t move around and it would just tear me up inside,? Dorsey said on Thursday as he talked about LSU?s matchup with Ohio State in Monday?s BCS national championship game.

Matchups: Buckeyes offense, Tigers defense suited to play inside power game

Friday, January 4, 2008 3:07 AM
By Tim May

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

NEW ORLEANS -- Want to know how a defense can rip through the Ohio State offense? Just flip in a DVD of Florida's assault in last year's national championship game. The players on the Louisiana State defense have seen it, as they prepare for Monday night's national championship game against the Buckeyes in the Superdome. They watched Florida's defensive front, especially end Derrick Harvey, have its way with the OSU offensive line.
The point to remember, LSU defensive end Kirston Pittman said, is the Buckeyes also have watched it. They've lived it, and he said it's apparent from watching video from this season that they learned from it.

OSU notebook: Compilation DVD was intended to motivate

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

NEW ORLEANS -- Noreen Sulzer insisted on watching the DVD her grandson, Ohio State offensive tackle Alex Boone, brought home for Christmas. On Dec. 19, coach Jim Tressel gave his players a 12-minute compilation of what amounts to severe trash-talking. It starts with clips of Florida players celebrating their victory over Ohio State last January, first in Glendale, Ariz., and then in Gainesville, Fla., with the national title trophy.
Various television commentators follow, demeaning Ohio State and/or the Big Ten.

LSU notebook: Safety could relive brother's title drive

Friday, January 4, 2008 3:07 AM
By Bill Rabinowitz

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

NEW ORLEANS -- Four years ago, Craig Steltz watched from the Superdome stands as his brother Kevin played fullback for LSU in the Tigers' national championship victory over Oklahoma. Now the Steltz brothers will switch roles. Craig Steltz is an All-America safety for the Tigers, who are a victory over Ohio State away from another national championship.
Steltz was a highly regarded member of a much-touted LSU recruiting class four years ago. But it wasn't until a year later that he thought about the possibility that he could as a senior duplicate his brother's feat.
