Game Thread BCS National Championship Game: tOSU 24, LSU 38 (final)

I hope that our OL is up to the task, he's not as quick on his feet as Troy was. I will admit a deer in headlights game for Smith, but above all else, Todd just needs time to throw the ball. If we can get a comfortable 3 seconds in the pocket consistently, I could see Todd coming out the hero in this game. It would be just like OSU to have a highly touted QB flop in the title game, just to turn around and win it with Todd Boeckman.

Let's also hope that if for whatever reason the OLine struggles a bit that TB doesn't get panicky in the pocket and immediatly try to pull it down and make a play only to run into Barton's backside and be trapped into a sack as he was doing in the Illini game

Oh and yea, lsu has one of the worst looking helments in the NCAA...although i will admit that whatever you guys wore during the Tulane game was pretty sharp

Sorry I'm late, but LSU has the ugliest helmets I've ever seen. No joke.

Not only that but unoriginal. It looks like they took a Packers helmet, painted LSU and a tiger over the G, and filled in any green with purple.

Awww c'mon, somebody out there has to have uglier helmets than us.

i dont mind the yellow.....it's the boring block letters and ugly ass tiger

That ugly ass tiger is actually a photo of one of our past live mascots. I beleive it was Mike III, but not 100% sure about that.

We had that color scheme on our helmets first. The Packers weren't even green and gold until 1960-ish. We had this color helmet (no logo) in the mid 50's.

Louisiana may want to root for Ohio State
Bishop to donate to Katrina victims as Buckeyes score
Monday, December 31, 2007 6:13 AM
By Meredith Heagney

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

A week from today, Ohio State will play for the national title, trying to prove to critics and rabid fans alike that the Buckeyes are indeed No. 1.
As if that wasn't enough, the hometown Episcopal bishop is asking them to win big.
Yesterday, Bishop Thomas E. Breidenthal, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southern Ohio, launched the "Win-Win Episcopal Buckeye Challenge" to help victims of Hurricane Katrina.
When Ohio State plays Louisiana State University in the national championship game Jan. 7, Breidenthal will donate $250 for each Buckeye touchdown and $100 per field goal. He's asking the more than 25,000 Episcopalians across the diocese, which includes Columbus and the bottom half of the state, to pledge also.

OHIO STATE FOOTBALL
Big Ten has the Bucks, but SEC coaches pull in the big bucks

Monday, December 31, 2007 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter
Columbus -- As Ohio State's defensive coordinator, Jim Heacock leads the No. 1 defense in the country. As LSU's defensive coordinator, Bo Pelini leads the No. 2 defense in the country.
Heacock won the Broyles Award this year as the nation's top assistant college football coach. Pelini won an even greater reward -- he will leave after the BCS National Championship game to coach Nebraska.
What will separate them when the Buckeyes and the Tigers meet in the New Orleans Superdome in a week? How about $161,000 in base salary.

Speed meets brawn in BCS title game

Just change the mascots. Make the marquee say, the LSU Fast Guys against the Ohio State Plodders for the BCS national title next week.
Those are the stereotypes, that LSU from the Southeastern Conference, playing in the sunny South, is speedy and athletic and that Ohio State from the Big Ten Conference, playing in the frigid North, is slow and beefy.
?If we were racing, I bet that I have one guy that might be faster than any of their guys, but we?re not racing,? LSU coach Les Miles said. ?I promise you I watched (Ohio State), and there is no appreciable difference. They?re as quality, capable and talented as any.

LSU report
OSU will face double threat at quarterback
Flynn and Perrilloux have successful season leading Tigers offense

DAYTON: When Ohio State prepared to play Florida in the BCS championship game last winter, the Buckeyes were forced to prime themselves for two quarterbacks.
A year later, there's still a dual threat.
In building an 11-2 record and a title game appearance, LSU relied on both veteran Matt Flynn and sophomore Ryan Perrilloux to guide it from the quarterback position.
They helped the Tigers rank first in school history in attempts (415), fourth in completions (234) and fifth in passing yards (2,980).
They also became the program's top scoring offense, at 38.7 points per game.
Flynn, a 6-foot-3, 227-pounder from Tyler, Texas, is the starter.
His first career completion was a 67-yard touchdown, but he played behind No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick JaMarcus Russell for the past two seasons.
