Humm, it will be intersting to see how our guys react to Wells saying they can be run on... this game is going to be good...

Confident Wells can't wait to face LSU

If LSU players find the phrase "I think if you really look at the film, teams could run on LSU" as bulletin board material, then they're in hurting status...

Very seldom, if ever, is the truth bulletin board material.

And if Beanie was looking at film of the Arkansas game, his eyes had to light up. 53 attempts for 385 yards. :grr:

Came across an interesting statistic today. In the Tressel Era we have played in four previous BCS games. In three of those four years we had the Big 10 Defensive Player of the year.

Bowl...................................Big 10 DPotY.......tOSU BCS Result

2002 Fiesta Bowl (NC).............Mike Doss.............WON
2003 Fiesta Bowl....................Will Smith.............WON
2005 Fiesta Bowl....................A.J. Hawk.............WON
2006 NC................................Lamar Woodley......LOST

Why so interesting? 2007 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year?

James Laurinaitis.

Many analysts are suggesting that Boeckman's play could be the lynchpin, however, why are we seeing Tiger fans concerned about the run?

OSU's front is a whole heck of a lot stronger than Arkansas's line, so I can't see past that. I'm hoping for a dip and dunk performance from Todd, coupled with the QB sneak no-one expected from Craig freakin Krenzel back in 03. Combined with a clock eating performance from Beanie, I don't see where LSU can dominate, period.

I have to say something to support our visitors...

Having just lived in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for six months, I can say that people were not racists or uneducated and I found them to be very friendly and hospitable. I did meet a few elderly people who seemed to be fighting the Civil War, but they were the exception.

There were predominantly black, low-income neighborhoods in Durham and Raleigh, much as one finds in most major Northern cities. I saw evidence of much inter-racial mixing in schools and neighborhoods and lots of inter-racial community building that was pretty impressive to see.

There are more PhD's per square mile in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill (i.e., Research Triangle) area than anywhere in the world. And, I think more millionaires as well.

I have difficulty remembering any times when someone talked trash to me about Ohio State. Once they realized that I was a Buckeye, they always said pleasant things about the football team and how glad they were that the Thad Five were "going pro". I did not see one incident where there was any racial tension between people.

I did have a good friend and colleague on the faculty, who was born in Europe, ask me why I followed Buckeye sports. He said, "I don't give a thought to my university, and certainly not any money. I could care less. I paid my tuition and I got my degree." All I could say is that, in our culture, Ohio State sports was an important element of our community and identity and that beating Michigan was a big part of that." He told me that, while he couldn't understand that, he could respect it when it was put that way. No one else ever questioned my fashion sense or clothing brand choice.

I'd like to think that the folks visiting our board from LSU are, in the main, not that dissimilar to us, except that they support LSU.

The class of this site wont allow the Trolls that patrol the CBS/ESPN/SI boards, so as many other real buckeye fans say, bring it on! LSU and OSU are very similar in size, dedication, and a recent history of having a tough, defensive minded football program. As a matter of fact, I think they have a very similar build to our program, minus the mouth on the head coach. Here's to putting a sock in it!!!!

I don't think you will find an LSU fan who thinks we can win if we play like we did against Arkansas...

I'm sure...his feeling about the game at least in that respect seemed to be based on the Arkansas game and i wanted to make sure he knew that none of us have any pretension of victory over Ohio State if that LSU team shows up on the 7th.

But I do wonder how they would do if they played the Ohio State team that showed up against Illinois.:wink2:

Fortunately for us as fans, I don't think either of those teams will make the trip to Nawlins.

Nor will the officials...replay booth included:biggrin:

Sporting News: Buckeye fans conflicted over BCS tickets

Buckeyes fans conflicted over BCS tickets
December 27, 2007
Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- The tickets to the Bowl Championship Series title game between LSU and Ohio State have a face value of $175 apiece. They're worth a lot more than that to people who won a student lottery to buy them.

Some are distracted by the scent of quick cash and turn around and sell them to the highest bidder. Others wouldn't think of unloading them.
"No way am I going to sell my ticket. I'm a huge fan," said Lauren Deerhake, 20, a mechanical engineering major from Texas. "Ohio State is the only college I wanted to go to. I'm paying out-of-state fees to be a Buckeye."

Deerhake and her roommate plan to fly to Houston and drive to New Orleans, where they will stay with a friend of Deerhake's mother.
Not far away, Dan Harker, 55, of Columbus, and his son-in-law offered students $400 for their tickets.

"We've arranged airfare and the hotel. All we need are the tickets to the game," Harker said. "If we're not lucky in Columbus, we'll buy tickets off a scalper in New Orleans."

Harker and his family have made a tradition of going to Ohio State's bowl games. Six family members plan to go to New Orleans, including four Ohio State alums.
"Ohio State football is like a secular religion," said Harker's son-in-law, Dave Michalski, 28, of Midland, Mich.

cont'd...
