BCS Chances (El Gigante Merge)

Well we are going to move up at least 1 spot in all the human polls with UGA's second loss.

Remember I told you so if the polls do their annual late season attempt to be close to the BCS poll and jump us over VT as well. If not this week then definitly next week if we win.

It puts ND and OSU right next to each other in the polls and makes it easy to sell our 2 teams getting the BCS bids.

Also, I am still curious as to how bad they drop Bama. The human pollsters have fucked them as much as they were able to when they were undefeated, now that they have lost...look out. I wouldn't be shockeed to see Bama down around 8-10 in the human polls.

The one game that sucked for us from last night was Oregon hanging on to beat a very bad WSU team. We could have picked up a lot of loose votes under the new system with Oregon, UF and TT all losing last night.

Oh well, stomp the vulvariens and its all good.

Agreed, many people fail to see that it's not so much where you are ranked that counts but how many overall points you've received. Even if we don't go up much in the polls, we should pick up a lot of votes with UF and TT losing their second games. Also, Oregon loss would've helped a lot getting those points from the west coast voters.

Your right about the SOS, weird that 3 teams ND played this year WERE pre-season top 5 . Wow how that changed...

That link I provided eaalier sort of suggests that the FIESTA gets the first and third pick which many around here think will be ND-PSU.

HONESTLY at this point I am just wooried about winning the last two. Stanford scares me....

Chief, they lost to UC-Davis this year. UC-Davis isn't just a 1-AA school, they are a bad 1-AA school as they just made the jump from DII not to long ago. They lost to USC by a mere 30 points and only beat Navy by a FG. You will also be getting them on the rebound after their big game with Cal.

If you guys lose to them you should throw yourself off the nearest bridge.

Why the fuck is everyone so high on Oregon???

Its the west coast version of the VT effect. They have played an absolutely comical schedule and beaten all of the cream puffs. Of course the fact they got bitch slapped by the one good team they played bothers no one.

Here's their schedule by opponent W/L coming into this past weeks games

Houston 3-4
Montana non 1A team
Fresno State 6-1
USC 9-0
Stanford 4-4
ASU 5-4
UW 1-8
Zona 2-6
Cal 5-3
WSU 2-6

They beat Fresno by a fucking FG, barely beat Arizona and WSU and were ass raped by USC.

Forgive me if I am unimpressed by their resume.

Wasn't that fun to watch yesterday? Shame that TSUN game is not on GameDay:( .

I just did a few calculations and I think we can move up two places in the polls this week. There was a lot of confusion about who went where between 7-11 and I think that got sorted a bit with the losses yesterday. I think we could end as high as #6 with a convincing win against TSUN.

We'll know soon. I expert our average computer rating to move to #6 and our BCS position to move as high as that as well this week.

Chief, with all of the comments you have made in the past about schedule strength, I want to compliment you on admitting that Ohio State wins hands-down this year.

Hey I cant argue with the truth....

Jax- See what the last 10 years has done to me! LOL! Sometimes I get excited about ND and the future but at every point I also expect the bottom to drop out.

Why the hell would they pick Oregon over tOSU. We are easily the better team, we travel more, and we are a bigger program.

No one is going to pick them over us for a BCS spot, the point is the total number of votes we could pick up in the human polls if they lost last night, they are directly behind us in all 3 polls.

It all gets down to money. If your team, say UCLA, doesn't travel well, you get bypassed for a team that brings fans and money.
That's our ace in the hole.

I think we all agree on that point.

In fact I'd be willing to V-wager that a ND vs OSU Fiesta Bowl would out do the NC game in the Rose Bowl as far as revenue and TV ratings. It can't win in terms of attendance just due to the size of the 2 stadiums in question.

No swipe at UT they'll bring their fair share, but USC simply can't bring as many even with it being essentially a home game (don't get me started on that shit). OSU and ND BOTH equal or surpass UT in terms of fan base size and TV appeal. 2 >1 where I went to school.

It would be an absolute windfall for the Fiesta so if we win and it allows them to set that game up you can go ahead and paint the endzones imo. They will happily listen to a months worth of bitching by the VT's and Alabama's of the world for the mega money we are talking about here.

Don't worry about ND making a BCS game... If they win out they make it. Once ND makes top-6 ranking they are automatically chosen. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/abcsports/BCSStandings check out this link. ND only "sucks" in the BCS because they have not fooled the computers... Unfortunately they will gain respect due to everyone freaking losing yesterday. I started doing math and ND was getting close to a 7 rank.

Its been discussed a million times on here but the ND rule is 9 wins and a final BCS of 12 or better.

6 or better applies to non-BCS schools ( WAC, MAC etc)

4 or better is what a BCS school who doesn't win the conference has to be in order to get an automatic at large bid.
