Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

Luckily I was able to get some sleep last night, but I'm having a hard time concentrating. We don't have a dress code here, so I'm wearing my Ohio State hoodie. For some reason, I'm more nervous about this game then I was about the Michigan game. Oh well.

Less than 6 hours guys. I just got up (worked last night) and my stomach is already in knots. Here's to a great game and a fantastic season for both programs, and here's to hoping that nobody gets really hurt and that the game is all that it's been made out to be.

GO BUCKS!!!

:oh:

I have a good feeling about tonight. Hopefully it will look something about like this except with a crystal football hoisted in the air.....

At 4:57 AM I gave up on the notion that I could go back to sleep and wake at some normal hour. Up before Taos, out there on his mountain in the desert. Up before the Cincinnati Enquirer... not that that's much of a feat and , anyway, how would you tell if that rag of a newspaper was ever up?

It's game day and don't these 63 year-old bones know it. I'm ready for the first class of the semester. Got the syllabi's ready, e-mailed them and the first assignment rubric and the poem of the day. Still need to do the final calendar for both courses and attendance records. That's what Tuesday's are for. Got my scarlet and gray rugby shirt on and my 02 NC Champs hat rests on the front seat of the car. Today is the day that 43 Northern Kentucky University students find out Ohio's here!

So, here's the game plan: Depart for school at 6:45. Teach at 8 and 9, trudge across campus, check my mailbox before leaving, climb in car and head for Party Source in Newport. Pick up a bottle of Mum's and good Red Auerbach victory cigar, cross the bridge to downtown and hit Averill's for sweet Italian sausages, back out to Anderson picking up bag of ice along the way, get the chili started and put it on simmer, ice down the beer, try and do an hour long power up (kids and people in rest homes nap, I power up). Spend an hour or so on BP getting the harmonics established. Set the DVR for 6:30 - 2AM, Set Tivo as the back up system. Get the grill ready, Cheeze-Its, peanuts, chips and salsa out, buns, three kinds of mustard, horse radish, Tabasco and crackers for the chili. Put the Big 10 pennants up along the fireplace mantle, crank TBDBITL another notch, make sure the big O flag isn't furled around the post, ignite the coals at 7, toss first sweet Italian sausage on the grill at 7:15, open the doors for guests at 7:30, try not to do a David Patterson before kickoff, open up huge can of Buckeye Whupass, let the game begin.

Can I make it? I'm so psyched now I'd like to bottle a bit of this adrenaline for say, about 11...

I live in Cincy...with that long list of goodies you are serving, I may be tempted to seek out your residence tonight!

Governor's Wager
Friday, January 5, 2007

Governor Charlie Crist placed a friendly wager on next Monday's college football championship game. Crist placed a call to Ohio Governor-elect Tim Strickland to place a bet on the big matchup. Crist will send Strickland some Florida Citrus if the Buckeyes win. Strickland will send Crist some Ohio wine and chocolates that look like buckeyes if the Gators win. Also the governor from the state of the losing team will have to fly the flag of the winning team's state at the governor's residence for a day.

If I can find the details of this, I'd love to roadtrip over to Tallahasee and get this picture.

I've seen a bunch of posts here about impatience to get the game here and done with. I'm not in any hurry, myself. See, most UF students have stayed home or gone to AZ for the game, so campus is much less silly right now than it normally is. If the NC keeps gators off campus, I wish we were in the NC every week.

I live in Tallahassee. I absolutely guarantee that if I find out when the flag is flying that a picture of it will appear on BP. If anybody finds out, send me a PM.

Who could have seen this Ohio State-Florida championship game coming?

Not savvy enough to find my post, but I did "predict" this matchup
about 45 days ago. Actually, I stated what I thought "should" happen,
instead of a rematch with scUM. If someone could help me out and
show me how to find my own posts? I'd like to frame it, Heheheheh.

NM...I found it.

Honestly, no. I do NOT agree that scUM
is the second best team right now.

<Long-winded analysis of scUM game snipped>

Here's how I see it (Or how I would LIKE to see it)
1. We get the Florida/Arkansas winner (SEC CCG): When we wax
either one by 3 TD's or more, the incestuous love affair that is the
SEC will be exposed for what it is.
2. TTUN goes to the Rose Bowl and, playing with the same passion
and effort they gave us, blasts USuCk, at home, into the depths of
the Pacific. Hence officially, difinitively ending the so-called "Trojan
Dynasty".
3. After getting pasted by the only two teams on their so-called
schedule with a pulse(TTUN and USuCk), the Leprechaun Neutered
Lambs are served up as the main course to a very deserving 11-1
Whisky.
Of course, for this to pan out, I only need one more upset in a
season-ending rivaly game. I have just become a Bruins fan.

A 1, 2, 3 Big Ten finish sounds infinitely preferable to any potential
rematch result, doncha think?
