Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

I actually agree with that. Ohio State will beat Florida handily provided that they are prepared for the game. Florida is focused exclusively on Ohio State. The Heisman has to have hit our focus at least a bit.

Rule 1: We will need to be 100% ready for Florida to win.
Rule 2: If you think we won't be, remember Tressel teams are always prepared.

Cough* Auburn *Cough
Exactly...i'm sick of people comparing 2006 Florida to 2002 Ohio State. WE DIDNT LOSE IN 2002. People just assumed we couldn't beat Miami because we won close games. Well Florida has won close game...AND LOST! If Ohio State had lost 1 game in 2002, there is NO WAY they would have been in the NC game. Florida is LUCKY to be in the championship game, because they lost...Ohio State was NOT lucky in 2002 to get in the championship game, they won all their games on the field...and that's what got them in. That's what made them a team of destiny. If Florida is this gritty, defensive, always wins close games team of destiny, then they shouldn't have lost to Auburn. Plus might I add...that their defense isn't near as good as ours was in 2002...their defense isn't even as good as ours this year. People talk about them being a great defensive team...yet they don't even have the best defense in the game!!! Maybe they have an edge at OLB...maybe.

We are a whole heck of a lot better than Auburn...and even though Florida is #2 and Michigan is #3...Florida is whole heck of a lot worse than Michigan.

This is Florida...

Michigan minus Woodley, Hart and Manningham.

I keep going back to the fact that we won a lot of close games in '02 because of the way Tressel managed those games. We played a conservative (low risk, field position) offense that year. This Florida team won close games because they piled up mistakes (penalties, turnovers, questionable play calling). Tressel concluded in 02 that our best chance to win was to slow the game down and allow our D and Special teams to make the difference. This Florida team just plain shoots itself in the foot and ends up in games that are closer than they should be.

My conclusion is that we could be in for a real battle if Florida gets their act together and limits the mistakes. However, they don't have a track record to show it and we have a D that thrives on creating those mistakes.

This thread is needed and sometimes rises above the petty, with Florida fans' comments. The game will be a good one, for sure.

If I was a Gator fan, I would dedicate a few moments each day in complimenting UCLA for their victory over USC, and, I'd thank USC for losing to UCLA, a team they were favored to whip by at least 12.

If not for these two PAC10 teams, the Gators would not be contemplating sitting on an el grande cactus, come January 8th.

Let us consider, my bretheren (and sisteren, as well--let it not be said I'm sexist or anything:))

... If we win this game (and I believe we have the focus and ability to do so), that will make 4 BCS Bowl victories in Arizona in the space of 5 years.

...Could we then officially declare Phoenix to be a suburb of Buckeye, AZ?

I don't think the Heisman hit the team's focus at all. Yes, TS and Tress were in NY for a couple of days, but it was pretty much a given that Troy had it in hand after the Michigan game. The team will be ready. That is one thing I have loved about this team, their overall focus of the task at hand. I believe the boys will go out and take care of business for 4 qtrs and leave no doubt in anyones' mind who is the National Champions.

As far as the "Heisman Curse" goes, this team and the players already broke the "SI Cover Curse" a few times this season. This 2006 Buckeye squad is one of the best ever, and will prove it in Glendale.:osu:
