Never been more disappointed in the Bucks.

Strongly disagree. Disappointed in the result, but not in the team.

And I can think of some losses that hurt just as much as this. 93 UM, 95 UM, 96 UM, 98 MSU.

Great post. As lousy as everything went last night, I'd have no other coach. This was a letdown, but as long as JT's around, we'll be back.

Props too to Urban Meyer. Amazing game. He is now, without a doubt, an elite coach in my book.

Gators run, stun
Florida dominates Ohio State on both sides of ball in winning title

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

GLENDALE, Ariz. ? Ohio State players stood with hands on hips, staring at the opposite sideline, unable to believe what they saw. As the clock wound down on Florida?s 41-14 victory in the national championship game, coach Urban Meyer waved his arms to exhort the fans, who responded with yet another round of Gator chomps.

Gators keep Buckeyes from enjoying great season

TODD JONES

GLENDALE, Ariz. ? The next time Ohio State students need kindling for their couch fires, they can just add in the film of the national championship game from last night. All but the first 16 seconds. Strange how a season-long magic carpet ride can unravel thread by thread in a matter of 59-plus minutes.

You just saved me the task of putting in print all I was thinking after this game - great post and GPA worthy IMHO.
If I had written something like that, presuming I could have written something like that, the only wording change I might have made would be the comparative game - but I like your example much better than the one I had in mind (Penn State 63-14).

Weak spots in defense exposed

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

GLENDALE, Ariz. ? Ohio State?s defense was a major question mark heading into this season, with the Buckeyes? top eight tacklers from 2005 departing for the NFL. For 11 games, the Buckeyes proved the doubters wrong, allowing only 86 points, barely a touchdown per game.

FLORIDA NOTEBOOK
Gators? defense leaves its mark in nasty mauling

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

GLENDALE, Ariz. ? Florida linebacker Earl Everett lost his helmet in the backfield but not his hunger. He still chased, caught and planted Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith, with no need for headgear and no regard for injury.

Congrats to OSU from the SEC

Congrats to OSU on a great year and especially for having classy people represent you. Your coach and players handled the adversity like class acts. I am an Auburn fan and would have loved to have even been playing in the game. We were lucky against Florida with the turnovers. Our defense played like world beaters against LSU and the 2nd half of the Florida game but Florida is scary good with their speed. I apologize for drifting.

Anyway I wanted to say my hats off too you guys for your year and your people.

Oh yea, I do want to ask one question; Has Michigan quit whining yet because they don't get a 2nd chance at OSU? Michigan is as weak as pond water. They aren't the 2nd best team. Maybe a top 10 team and that might be a stretch.

For whatever it is worth, I think many fans got caught in the delusion that Ohio State could become a dynasty in the same vein as USC lately or Florida State in the 90s, competing for titles year in and year out. I don't think that is realistic. We play in a tougher conference. We travel away from home to play in the big bowl games. And we don't have the bright lights of the big city, or the cool breeze of the ocean to lure premadonna recruits (that can play some ball).

Remember, we went from '68 until '02 without a title. We never even had a chance for a title in a bowl game under Cooper. And I think it's fair to say that, with Tressel, we'll be back soon enough.

I agree with the second part, disagree with the first. In fact, I think we're very close to becoming the dynasty you speak of. Since 2001 tOSU is 56-9 86% winning pct. USC is 58-6, 90%. Not too much of a dropoff. In fact, toss out the 8-4 year, make it 10-2 and we have a better pct. than them. I know you can't do that and that these are just stats, you can slant them many ways. I think they just prove the intent of this thread. We're lucky to have Tress., and he's gonna have us back here soon.

Agreed, those guys left everything they had out there on the field. Just look at how Laurinaitis was towards the end of the game. He was totally spent. Those guys played their guts out, regardless of the result. I am very proud of them. Losing Teddy was so huge. I also don't think we had a very good game plan offensively or defensively, or if we did, they seemed to have gotten away from it too soon. It is hard to game plan for a team that is so uncovential like the Gators are/were, but I really feel like we should have made defensive adjustments earlier and stayed with the run early on. The way they were blitzing us, we needed to establish the run so we could get better opportunities to throw, and throw down field. Losing Teddy took away the short out passes that FL was successful with, using his speed to make guys miss and loosening up their blitzes. I could go on and on, and whether you agree or not on my theories, you have to agree that they gave all they had, it just was not to be.

how is that a question????

if ted doesn't come back you change your game plan.....how long have you watched football???:shake:

Long enough to know that JT didn't change his game plan last night after losing Teddy so asking about the spring is reasonable. If you want to feel better about last night's ass-kicking by grasping for excuses that's your right. However, they kicked our asses and Florida is just that good and we need to get better.

You know that's how it works, right? You don't just watch film for game planning...you do it to evaluate personnel as well. That includes coaching.

i have never been more proud of the buckeyes right now than i have ever been in my life. what they did this year was amazing and i couldn't ask for anything else better that what they achieved this year. i am not trying to make an excuse about the game but that 51 day lay off is terrible, they have to change that or do something about it. back to the buckeyes, i think after the game last night that gonzo, pittman and maybe teddy will be back next season. if i were them i would not want to go out like that. i know it will be a hard decision for them but i think if they all stay that will be huge. if tressel can do that it will be his best recruiting coup yet to get them back for another year. troy smith has nothing to be ashamed of he was possibly the greatest ohio state player in my mind and he is no doubt the greatest leader to ever don the scarlet and gray. i love him like a brother. if anyone says anything bad about ohio state or troy on this site after what happened last night, you aren't a real buckeye fan. it is so hard to go to the national championship twice in 5 years. we will be back soon and you can count on that. tressel will go down as one of the greatest if not the greatest of all time at ohio state. but it will take a lot to drop woody though. troy smith will be an amazing NFL quarterback. i hope he goes to the browns, it will be perfect. it was a great season but it didn't have a fairy tale ending, it was still a great season though. I love this website and GO BUCKS

:(I am sad too see us lose this one.........very, it almost made me sick....but 12-1 aint bad.....Tressel should not be faulted with the loss of the championship half as much as our players. They just didn show up to play. Well i hope we can just pull 800 next year and that would be great to me...

:oh: :io: .....forever
