Baylor +12.5 at West Va (ov/un 79.5) Sat noon FX

Some of it sure - but the numbers he put up tonight would be insane against air.

45 of 51 isn't all crappy defense, you have to be seriously accurate to do that.

Of course, but Baylor was 111th in the nation in pass defense before this debacle, having played SMU, Sam Houston and Louisiana-Monroe. Their defense is garbage.

That's fine. Geno has already blown up 3 other defenses as well. This team just happened to have enough offense to stay in the game so he could really stack up the stats.

In other words, it's not his fault these other teams don't know what they are doing. He's just doing his job and doing it better than anyone else by far this year so far.

Marshall, James Madison & Maryland. That's a group of tomato cans if I've ever seen it. The thing is every other "candidate" has a schedule that looks like that too. That is what I hate about the Heisman discussion - the fact that it's even taking place this time of year when few important games have taken place.

They haven't gone on the road yet either. I suppose we'll know a lot more after next week's trip to Austin.

Geno has "blown up" Marshall, James Madison, and Maryland before one of the worst defenses in college football - Baylor - came to town.

He's "doing his job", so good for him. But pardon me if his gaudy stats against crap defenses don't compel me to hand him the Heisman in September. I need to see what he can do against a defense with a pulse, but that may not happen in the Big XII.

Agreed that some of the talk is pre-mature.

But...

  1. Lots of teams have opened seasons against four crappy teams. Very few put up these numbers.
  2. Today's numbers would be impressive against air.
  3. Watch him play. He puts the ball on the money consistently.

I've seen guys play against shitty defenses before. I haven't seen any of them throw for 600+ yards and 8 TDs.

Old Dominion's QB threw for 730 yards last week. Wanna give him the Heisman? After all, it doesn't matter who he did it against, does it?

4. He was touted as a "Heisman hopeful" before the season, so people are going look at him positively and in a vacuum.

Not saying he isn't good. Obviously, he's very good. But I'll be somewhat skeptical until I see him light up someone who is capable of putting up a fight. So far, he hasn't done that.

Gino's numbers were almost identical to what Andrew Luck did at his pro day.

Baylor's D sucks donkey balls, but they can't possibly be worse than no defense at all like Luck went up against on pro day.

So you are saying WVU's defense is only slightly better than no one at all?
