Barry Bonds (Juiced Merge)

Today I heard that Selig let Giambi off with no fine or penalty in regards to his admitted use of steroids, citing his testifying about the practice and charitable donations of about 1 mill. ( he has made about 126 mill from the yankees)
So as far as I am concerned MLB has no character and is a non entity. I now reverse my stand and say that Bonds records should count, and everyone else of those steroids using, cheating players. If they are not going to hold the players in the league accountable then I have no interest in MLB at all. Go Ahead and let Rose into the Hall too It has been cheapened to where it matters non at all.

GO BUCKS
Great point, BB. For all of the moralistic posturing MLB has done about Bonds, it (through Selig) has essentially lionized the cheater Giambi. This proves beyond any doubt that Bonds's sin has nothing to do with steroids; it has only to do with the fact he is a miserable S.O.B. whom pretty much everybody hates.

Public to decide fate of Bonds' record-breaking ball

Public to decide fate of Bonds' record-breaking ball - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- The fate of Barry Bonds' record-breaking home run ball is now in the public's hands after its buyer announced Monday he was taking votes on whether to give the ball to the Hall of Fame, brand it with an asterisk or blast it into space. Fashion designer Marc Ecko revealed himself as Saturday's winning bidder in the online auction for the ball that Bonds hit last month to break Hank Aaron's record of 755 home runs. The final selling price for No. 756 was $752,467, well above most predictions.

brand and then to the H.O.F.
It belongs there, regardless of the question about the player's use of drugs, because that question isn't and probably can't be finally determined, the question should always be symbolized right along side the act itself.

ESPN - The votes are in: Bonds' 756 ball to get asterisk - MLB

Designer to brand asterisk on ball; Hall of Fame to accept it

NEW YORK -- The ball Barry Bonds hit for his record-breaking 756th home run will be branded with an asterisk and sent to the Baseball Hall of Fame, its owner said Wednesday.

We're happy to get it. We're a nonprofit history museum, so this ball wouldn't be coming to Cooperstown without Marc Ecko buying it from the fan who caught it.

Hall of Fame president Dale Petroskey

Fashion designer Marc Ecko, who bought the ball in an online auction, set up a Web site for fans to vote on the ball's fate, and the decision to brand it won out over the other options, sending it to the museum unblemished or launching it into space.
