Barry Bonds (Juiced Merge)

Baseball needs to get a hold of this, or it will spin out of control.

I agree. It will be interesting to see what happens to home run numbers across baseball after these players get off the juice. I would imagine fewer home runs and less offense would make games less exciting for the average fan. Bud Selig is in a tough spot.

ESPN did a big piece on Bonds' strength coach, Greg Anderson, last night. Of course, now when I watch ESPN, I am sittting there watching while trying to figure out how ESPN is slanting the story just to make it more believable. I counted about 7 times the word "allegedly" was used...

Nutty: "Bonds' numbers sure did. Maybe Sloops or sears know the league wide numbers. It would not be surprising."

I don't know the overall numbers. I don't think that Bonds ever stopped juicing after the testing began. I will tell you this: Sosa and Giambi stopped, and their numbers fell off the table.

And in light of Sears' Giambi rookie card posting, I got another one for you:

(What gives it up that Sammy hit the juice: the fact that he's 50 pounds of muscle lighter, or the fact that he's squaring to bunt in this picture? Which is the bigger tip-off?)

This is a clip from a Bonds interview with SI -

Bonds said that Anderson (trainer) had so little money that he "lives in his car half the time." Asked by a juror why he didn't buy "a mansion" for his trainer, Bonds answered: "One, I'm black, and I'm keeping my money. And there's not too many rich black people in this world. There's more wealthy Asian people and Caucasian and white. And I ain't giving my money up."

What a dipshit.

As much as I blame the players for this fisaco, I even blame baseball more. They got greedy for "homerun revenue" in the late 80s and juiced the ball. They got even greedier and let the players juice in the 90s (dont tell me they didnt know - everyone else did). Now, they are going to have the season and lifetime HR king to go down in the books as a steriod junkie. This is a blackeye that will not be easily erased, and they have no one to blame but themselves. The game has been a joke since the late 80s, and now its pathetic. I havent spent a dime of my own money on baseball since the stike in 94, and havent regretted it once.

They just got overly greedy. As we say here on the street - bulls make money, bears make money, and pigs get slaughtered. They're getting just what they deserve.

NYB: "As much as I blame the players for this fisaco, I even blame baseball more."

Hey, I blame the fans more than anybody. In 1998, I scoffed at McGwire and Sosa's supposed "Chase for the Home Run Record." It was and is a farce. But, all you fans went crazy over it. I couldn't go two feet without tripping over some idiot who was crying over how great this was for baseball.

Its a joke. They cheated. And you know who gets hurt the most? Roger Maris. This was his only legacy in baseball, and its wiped away because two morons didn't have any qualms about ingesting cattle hormones and injecting themselves in their stomachs. And don't tell me McGwire was only on andro, cause if you believe that, then you're naive.

Or what about the great Henry Aaron? He went through death treats, racism, and every obstacle imaginable to become a black man who broke the most hallowed record in all of sports. That will become obsolete in less than a year.

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who's watched an entire 162 game season knows how difficult it is to hit even 40 Home Runs! Much less 60! Much less 61! 70 is impossible! 73 is impossible! Hitting 60+ Homers 3 times in a career is a farce!

If you people want to do something for the game, then don't laud Bonds when he hits 756. Realize that you were played for fools when McGwire hit 62, and don't make the same mistake again.
