Real question is how much longer he will coach before retiring. He's only been here 5 years?
There have been several high-level defense coaches who have continued into their 70s and maintained their abilities. With Johnson being 67, I'd like to think he could continue at his present level for at least another five years, provided it's what he wants to do. Fortunately it doesn't appears his love for coaching has diminished.Real question is how much longer he will coach before retiring.
Two words - Dick LeBeau. Highly effective coach in the NFL until he was 80. And/or is there a succession plan? Is L.J in a position to groom his heir?
I think Al Washington makes a lot of sense here in terms of replacing Johnson.
