Arizona 13, USC 20 (Final)

ESPN - Injured Booty uncertain if he'll make next start - College Football

Booed, beaten and, as it turned out, a bit broken. Not a day at the Los Angeles Coliseum that USC quarterback John David Booty and the Trojans would care to remember.

In the Trojans' stunning 24-23 loss to Stanford, Booty -- who threw four interceptions -- played the final 2? quarters with a broken middle finger on his throwing hand.

The fifth-year senior is questionable for Arizona on Saturday.

"I don't know if I'll play," he said following the game.

USC must really be having some problems. Arizona is the worst team in the Pac-10. There's no reason they should be within 3 td's of USC, back-up QB or not.

Starting a new QB, missing our best two RBs, and missing most of our Oline, I am very happy with today's results (except that we incurred more injuries).

What were the injuries?

Maualuga (hip pointer) and Sam Baker (pulled hamstring) were the big ones today. We also lost another Olineman, Heberer. O'Dowd and Rachal are still out, Byers and Spanos banged up. Safety Ellison may have a broken nose. Cushing might come back next week.

There's a deeper problem with USC. Much deeper than just missing some players with injuries. The problem is that their wideout are too big and are too slow. They bought the hype about 6-5 230 pound WR/TEs so every WR on their roster is like that. But now, they don't have a vertical game they used to, which is limiting the success of their running game and making them a lot more one dimensional. As asinine as it is to say, they need some more speed on the outside.
