Are you a toxic sports fan?

We are about a week away from Opening Day and the Reds are going to suck more balls than usual.

That should be for you guys... I mean heck I was the inspiration for this thread because I don't agree that Matta is the best coach in the whole wide world. I simply posted my point, you guys are the one's who cried your eyes out because I hurt your feelings about Matta.

Your ability to self-reference is impressive. I'm guessing that most folks here would have a similar opinion as to on which of the five personality factors of the Five-Factor theory you score highest.

Actually, your posts were not really the genesis of this thread and, to be very frank, I must admit that I haven't really paid any attention to your posts about Matta.

In the same vein, I can't think of one meaningful comment that you have made in a post. Not saying that you haven't but nothing comes to mind.

As for Matta being the best in the business? Never thought of it. What I do appreciate is that Ohio State would be hard pressed to replace him and he has an excellent record as the Buckeye coach. He will go down as one of Ohio State's greatest coaches of all time.

I guess we'll all have to live with your disapproval.

Because Matta is overrated. It's plain and simple. Like how Doc Rivers only won a ring thanks to his all-star cast in Boston. How Erik Spolstra has won anything simply bc of his star cast.
This is my favorite argument when it comes to discussing basketball coaches, mostly because it's so ridiculous. "Such and such coach only won because he had talent." No shit. How many coaches that have won a championship(college or NBA) didn't have really good players? None.

Rollie Massimino. Let's dig up his corpse and give it the job.

Wait. I could have swore he was dead. Turns out he's just in NAIA.

I know more than a few people at Xavier who were just outright bummed that Matta left. They knew, he did a great job there and that he was a huge loss for them. Do I agree that this was a rough year and I wish things were different, absolutely. I am sure Craft and the others do as well. I remember all to well Earle's last year and I don't think anyone expected it. Do Spielman and Kumerow wish their Senior year was different for Earle....

It has been stated several times throughout this thread but just because you criticize your team does not mean you are a toxic fan. That is if I post here or say in a conversation something about our shooting was horrible in that game. Or man our D needs to step up before the big ten season, that is fine. To me the toxic fans are the ones who blow thing totally out of proportion all the time. An example...during the Big Ten Tournament was talking to some guys I work with. I made the comment that depending on what we did in the tournament we would end up with a 5 or 6 seed for the NCAA tournament. Guy I work with said not once but on several occasions that we did not even deserve to make the tournament, that our team sucked and we would get blown out by anyone we played. He is like that for football, basketball, really any sport no matter how much you back things up with facts

If anything I think OSU deserved a 5 seed. We lost to a good scUM team. We were victims of the selection committee who clearly seeded teams this year with an agenda. If anything was indicated by our bball team this year, it was that we would play to the level of our opponent, so being blown out was a ridiculous thought had he watched almost any game we played all year. I will admit I took Syracuse over OSU in my bracket and almost took Dayton over them as well due to how we looked this year, but our team is full of veterans that would most certainly not get routed.

Unfortunately for a lot of footballs fans, they only seem to remember the UF beating, the LSU loss, or the U$C loss. They seem to forget the consistent beating of scUM, the dominating of the B10, the record we had til MSU under Meyer, the 6 BCS bowl wins. Also ridiculous is that opposing fans seem to only like remembering those 3 losses above as well.
