Are the Buckeyes more geared for a Ntl. Championship in 2010 or 2011

definitely next year for sure...wouldnt be surprised though if we make it back to back years though.
i dont expect anyone really to be leaving early this year and we will have an amazing senior class for the next two years.
we will probably keep dominating in conference and i can guarantee two wins over miami the next two years

Having only 4 road games and Miami/PSU/scUM at home compared to the following year's 5 road games and all of those on the road is a plus for 2010. Also adding MSU and Northwestern over Illinois and Wisonsin could be an addition for 2011. The defense will likely lose alot from 2010 to 2011. And the offense (if it plays to potential) could lose alot to the draft/ graduation. Alot of teams will be down next year as well. Florida loses everything, Texas loses alot, OKLa loses alot and the ACC/Big East always eat each other up. So it could come down to ALA/USC and who knows. Tress seems to build for even years (exception is 04). Next year is the year. It always was and I believe it is OSU's best shot for a few years.

Miami and at Wiscy and at Iowa= more manageable? Getting Miami in the second game will be very tough. We get by them and things will get exciting. But getting Iowa at Iowa the week before scUM worries me.

Agreed. Florida will lose to Florida State and Alabama. Texas will lose to Texas A&M and to Nebraska. TCU will lose to New Mexico in the biggest upset of the year. Cincy will lose to Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh will lose to West Virginia. Boise State will lose to Nevada and Georgia Tech will lose in the ACC championship game.

If all of that happens...then I think we get the nod.

Actually, if it weren't for TCU it wouldn't be that much crazier than 2007.

Definitely next season, when Pryor is coming back for sure.

Heyward, Williams, Larimore and Simon will make a strong foundation for the D. And don't forget that we have a terrific pass-rusher in Turner joining us.

Homan and Rolle will become household nations by this time next season, with Bino/Sweat possibly joining them.

A lot of posters are concerned about safety...I can see Hines and Moeller back there at safety with Rolle/Homan/Bino/Sweat rotating at LBer. Like the coaches said, you find a way to get the best 11 players on the field. Moeller and Bino/Sweat are better players at this point than young guys like Johnson/Domincone.

I seriously think that it's a good idea for Chekwa to come back. IDK, it just seem like the kid could use another year of development and increase his salary by a few million dollars per year for the first few years if he stays. Right now, he's arguably done less than Youboty or Washington, so it'd be wise for him to stay. Torrence should be solid on the other side.

The offense will be sick. The entire line with the exception of Cordle will be coming back, which means you are looking at seven players who have starting experience...

LT: Miller/Adams
LG: Boren
C: Brewster
RG: Browning
RT: Shugarts/Hall

Then you have young pups like Linsley and Mewhort inside, so there should be enough depth in case of injuries.

Pryor is starting to get it at QB, and once he got that long ball worked out with Posey, watch out. Looking for him to have a 3000 yd season and a run at the Heisman.

The receiving corp should be sick with Posey being the solid #1 and Sanzo being the reliable #2. Carter, Fields and Thomas should provide solid depth.

Boom, Saine, Hall, Berry, Smith and Hyde will be sick at RB. Looking for 2000 yards out of this group.

I don't think that's a given at all. Miami will be loaded for a BCS run again.
Wiscy will be loaded.
And Iowa will be loaded and we have to play them in Iowa the week before The Game.

Depends on who we have returning/coming in in 2010. I think Gibson is gone. The difference between Heyward staying and leaving will be significant, as will Chekwa, given that our secondary is already a little bit of a concern with the loss of Coleman. If they both return, that is great news for our defense.

As far as who's coming in--I'm specifically talking about Oline. Fact of the matter is, our OLine has been a weakness for a lot of JT's tenure. I attribute this mostly to lack of numbers. It would really, really help if we coul get 3 bodies on the OL in 2010 for extra depth. So the difference between getting both Henderson and James, and striking out, is huge IMO. Get both, and we're looking at an OL that can withstand injuries to starters. Strike out, and we will be thin again if we have injuries, and that could cost us games.


Same thing for 2011 of course. But just thinking-- if we keep Heyward and Chekwa, and get at least a few of the studs we're looking at in 2010 (especially guys like Floyd and Henderson who will probably contribute right away), 2010 should be an amazing year, and it will be hard to top in 2011, because I think the better 2010 is, the more likely we are to have guys leave early.

Anyway, I do think both years we have a legit shot at a NC appearance. I would be pretty surprised if we didn't make it to the big enchilada either year.

Which is precisely why you want to play them at home in 2010 rather than after another year of seasoning at their venue. Excellent strategy on your part. A substantial portion of their starting lineup is made up of sophomores and freshmen.

With a brand new quarterback replacing Tolzien, no more Gilreath, and Toon as a senior. That's not "loaded". They'll be a good team, but Bielema doesn't get the benefit of the doubt like Alvarez did.
And Iowa will be loaded and we have to play them in Iowa the week before The Game.

And that's still not as challenging as traveling to Happy valley, where they are "loaded" with more than 1-2 notable players on either side of the ball.
