Anyone in Columbus seeing this lightning..?

The lightning strike rate is highest in the area from Johannesburg, South Africa to Harare, Zimbabwe. It is really unsettling until you get used to it, when the summer storms come. Something like 350 hits per square kilometre per year. Sounds like a mortar attack and you have to unplug everything of value in your home because even surge protectors can get blown out.

Guys, keep inside. Lightning kills and we need everyone to click through on the BP ads for the revenue.

The storm hit Lancaster at about 3:30. Woke everyone in the family up, including me, and I can sleep through anything. It was like strobe lights around the house for about a half hour. That was possibly the worst thunderstorm I've ever been through just in terms of the intensity of the lightning strikes with how fast and close they were. Can't recall ever seeing anything like that ... just hundreds and hundreds of bolts thundering down everywhere we looked.
