Juice, Full of Juice!!
So this past Easter weekend I got diagnosed with MONO. I missed an entire week of work last week fighting a fever, sore throat, and having no voice. I think the fever is finally gone, but still have a sore throat on the left side and still have no voice.

MY work and client have been awesome and have told me to work from home until I feel better, but I kid you not, I am up an hour and then I need to sleep again. I have never felt this drained in my life.

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone out there has experience with this junk and any suggestions on how to get better?

Buy the first person to respond to this thread some beer.

It'll make everything better.

EDIT: Just kidding.

Maybe.

Had it in high school. Fortunately mine came on Christmas break and I spent two weeks sleeping. I guess I had a mild form as a classmate had mono a couple years later and was in the hospital for a month.

Had it in college and had a fever for a month. The sore throat lasted for about 2 weeks and my fever got up to 104 before they realized I had mono. They gave a steroid called Decadron (sp?) and my sore throat was gone within a day. My tonsils had nearly swolen together so that's why I was given the steroid.

I had it pretty bad and it took about 3-4 months before I got my full energy back.

I got it in Jaunary o9f my freshman year at OSU. It was late February when I no longer felt like sleeping 16 hours a day and half way through Mrach when I felt really healthy again. It's some nasty shit.

Thanks for the replies guys. It is just nuts how drained I feel. Apparently I had an abscess on my throat as well and it burst on its own this afternoon. Throat feels a millions times better, just want to sleep all the time.

From Thumps and Cinci posts it looks like I am looking at a couple of months before I am in the clear from this junk :-(

Worst experience of my life.. I lost 18 pounds in two weeks b/c I couldn't eat. I was hospitalized for 3 days with Mono. After some testing they confirmed that it was Mono-hepatitis, which also affects the liver. I was layed up for about 3-4 months as well. Will take at least a month to regain strength, probably more. Avoid physical activity for there is a chance that you may rupture your spleen. I could not eat a thing for a few weeks. Prednizone is the steroid given to me which was mostly for the pain. Good luck....Thank god you only get this once in your lifetime. Some people can have a relapse though..Pray that it doesn't happen to you..

When I had it (senior year of HS) I contemplated ripping my throat out because it hurts so bad all the time. Slept most the day away, watching cheesy gameshows the rest of the time. Felt better one night, so I went to the state B-Ball finals... that was a mistake.

Seems like I was down for the count a good month, month and a half. I also remember having this godawful taste in my mouth all the time. :Anticipates the obvious:

In short, good luck man. It sucks.

Thanks everyone... today is the first day in a week I am actually able to talk without sounding like Timmy from SouthPark. All in all I feel pretty good, just still really tired. I am so relived that abscess ruptured on its own, my throat feels a million times better. I understand by everyone saying they wanted to rip it out themselves, so miserable!! I still have no appetite at all, but the wife and the MIL both being Italian refuse to not let me eat. I went on the scale and was down 13lbs from last week and I swear the lady took that as a personal insult....lol. Thankfully the weather is for shit as well and don't feel too bad for being a bum!
