Anyone capable of discussing gas without politics? Anyone?

Enjoy it while it lasts. Earlier this year the USA moved to #1 thanks to shale production in the midwest. OPEC's response has been to slash prices.

Filled mine up with premium for 1.98/gallon (in PA). Nothing like some good ol' competition.

It wi be awhile... Maybe not this low, but pretty good. Even maybe through the summer. The Saudis appear determined to drive marginal producers from the market and regain price stability. They probably like shale in that sense because it is a steady hedge against supply fluctuation in the overall energy mix. But in the meantime... Venezuela, iran, and others are going to suffer. Obviously Putin too.

Don't mean to go too far down that geopolitical road but as in 2008, its time to reset the supply.

$1.76 here too. Really hope this torpedoes airfare this summer. Would be nice to do a Disney vacation with my little ones at a reasonable price.

Hoping for the same as well regarding airfare, but mainly so I can get some travel funds from switching around flights to Cali on Southwest we have from when our honeymoon was going to be a Disneyland trip (before we found out a ton of stuff we love will be closed for refurbs before their big 60th celebration). It's really nice to be able to fill up the newer car for about $20 or less and my old car for about $25-30 for the time being. Hope it stays down for a good while.

gas prices really starting to take its toll on the economy down here.
everything in my part of the world revolves around the oilfield.

when prices drop, the industry here slows down.
when prices stay down, things grind to a halt here.

projected to be at least another couple of months before it gets going again.

late 2014 Terrebonne Parish had one of the best unemployment rates in the country. If you didn't have a job it's because you didn't want one.
Now? My company alone is up to100 layoffs since mid-January.
And that's minor compared to other companies around here.

12+ years working in the oilfield, and this is the worst I've ever seen.
I'm still safe for now, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't at least a bit concerned right now.
