Bringing back an old thread.

Just got an email from a fuel jobber that sold to me at my old job. Gas prices are going through the roof. Expect gasoline to go up $0.50 and diesel at least $0.15. He did not say how much of this was due to Ike but that supplies were tight and would be going forward.

I know, not good news. Let's see how this plays out, it may just be a regional thing.

i got an email along those lines today as well.

said gulf coast gas is trading 70 cents over new york. also says inventories are getting dangerously low and they will get lower as the refineries in the houston area are shut next week. it also goes to say that traders are very short (meaning they are betting prices to go down) so any rally could spook them all into buying back their bets which will add to the price spike.

A friend in Georgia said her local station had gas at 4.56 the other day and posted a price increase to over $5/gal the next day. There is sure to be some price gouging suits after this, sicne its still under $4/gal in other places.

I suffered from this as well, in north Metro ATL, or suburbia. People were filling up reserve gas cans, freaking the fuck out. Gas stations were running out of gas. The price shot up over .50 cents in a day. I had to buy gas this morning at $4.09, which I know is alot lower than in ATL.
