Agree with exception. Pittman has looked like he has had the stuff to be a 20+ carry back with breakaway threat since the first time he touched the ball but it took us 7 games to put him in a position where he could dominate. My only thought is when something is not working don't just sit and do nothing.
FB not dominating blocking = do nothing until week 7
QB for one reason or another not moving team down field = do nothing until week 7
OLine not establishing line of scrimmage = do nothing until week 7
I just hope this one game was not a mirage...

Tress raved about Dionte on the radio a few weeks ago...He must be upset to waste that redshirt in mid season. Usually Tressel won't praise any player, he'll just give you coach speak about them "looking solid".
Tressel also gave some insight into Rehring when he mentioned that his biggest problem is consistency. I guess on some plays he will light the defender up and blow him off the ball, but then on other plays he will entirely whiff on the block. His redshirt was mainly for experience and consistency because physically he is a stud. I didn't notice any terrible breakdowns by him on Saturday. I think it is good for the line not to focus so much on mistakes as long as they are the aggressive kind. I don't want them to constantly get beat...but I think they threw Rehring in there because he only plays in top gear. It sparked the whole unit.
I always feel kinda sick when we lose a redshirt year for a player because of how crucial it is in the years that you will have a lot of returning starters. It creates a lot of space between talented players. I don't know enough about Hoobler to accurately judge him, but Rehring and Johnson will be TOUGH!

I was always under the impression that Ben Person was doing better than Rehring in fall practice. I know that Rehring had spring ball to prepair him but I still thought that Person would be the next to play. Could we have played Rehring over Person to protect a more valueable redshirt?
Also, is there any update on Kerr? If we decided that Hoobler would play over Kerr wouldn't we have known that as soon as MDA went down. Did something happen to Kerr between Iowa and Indiana?

Defense still wins Championships
I was at the IU game and here are the thoughts I had on these guys...
- I was at the gate when the players entered the tunnel from the lockerroom. While they were all big boys, Rehring appeared to be the biggest guy on the team. He's a monster, bigger than Boone I would say. Those 2 will make nice bookends. He got in alot as a 3rd tackle (2 on one side), which I suppose took alot of pressure off of him and was also a new wrinkle IU hadn't seen.
- Hoobler was on kick return coverage the whole time and got in on the last series at MLB. He dropped back into zone coverage on every play I watched, and he was about a foot away from getting a pick. He got a hand on a pass, which ended up being caught, but couldn't get his other hand up there to bring it down. I had hoped he'd redshirt, but I guess the injury to D'Andrea forced the staff to play him. He's gonna be good.
- Johnson looked very good when I was watching him. As Mili said, he had 9 yards on 2 carries when the D was loaded to stop the run at the end. He also had a key block on Pittman's counter run which went for the long TD. Without Johnson's block, Pittman would've been downed behind the line of scrimmage. With Johnson's block, Pittman got an easy stroll and Supermanned into the endzone for the first of many times.
