any guitar players here?

Single for the first time in 20 years. I'm breaking out my guitar. I am sitting in a room with a yamaha keyboard, and roland drumkit, and a gibson les paul: all of which I haven't touched in so many years.

And wavelab and reason.

I am getting back in the game. Expect really, really bad music soon.

Fertile times for honing the craft, kinch. Best of luck.

I acquired one of these recently. It can sound like a guitar, or a trombone, or a duck, or torpedoes, or your house burning down.

I bought a Banjo today, now all I have to do is learn how to play it. Does that count?

Yes!

Just made this song and uploaded it to YouTube.. have a listen and let me know what you think.

It's metal. Improv solo, don't judge too harshly. Haha

YouTube - rawwrrrr

Bump

I wrote two more songs. If I can put some drums behind them I'll post those as well. They're different time signatures, so it'll be interesting. I suck at making drums in anything other than 4/4..

I liked that first one. Awesome stuff!

As for something constructive... maybe some dynamics to give shape to the repeating bars? Might be very cool to use a slow, slow gliss as background noise from the beginning, building up to the solo itself. Balancing the power-ahead feeling with a little push-pull tension, you know?

I do know what you're saying. Problem is, I improvise all my solos and just take the best one. I really liked the way that one sounded so I'll probably stick with it. Not sure I can pull off some of those licks again.

I really need a band. I've always written better with a band. It's a lot easier to be dynamic and less-repetitive with other people playing at the same time. Maybe one day.. if I ever find a drummer.. they don't exist.

If you need a banjo player, I know a guy.

I know what you mean about the band issue. I have a similar one when trying to practice (both for my guitar and my sax). If I'm practicing a song, I always try to have a recording to play with, because I work so much better that way. I don't know why, but that's just how my mind works, musically.
